He scored on his debut on the weekend, so I think it's just the Herts Ad being a bit slow...

Very sad to see Gayle go - he has been outstanding during his time with the Saints. Although, the game we were without him - at Maidenhead - we did defend well although against one of the weaker teams in this league

Saints must grow their own players for the future. Shame about Gayle but onwards and upwards.

You have to credit the likes of Locke and Hall for sticking around and fighting successfully to win their places back - a lot of players in non-league jump ship at the first sign of falling out of favour. That is testament to their characters and indeed the management.

Saints sign up talented youngsters after trials Richard Mills
St Albans City’s U18 manager Mark Swales believes the club has a bright future with a host of prodigious talents signing up for the Saints.
After holding two trials in February for U16 and U17 players in the district, Swales was extremely impressed with at least half a dozen precocious hot shots.
These rising stars will train with the club for the next couple of weeks and the former director of sport at St Columba’s College was pleased with the technical ability and desire of the youngsters.
“There was a real buzz from the boys,” said Swales. “Their attitude was first rate and you could tell it had a great impact on them; it was really positive.”
The trials involved one on ones in both defence and attack, high tempo possession scenarios in confined spaces, one touch football and intense fitness workouts.
Already some of the U17s have made the step up to the U21s which puts them in good stead for pre-season in several months time, and Swales is already excited.
“This is what football is about, nourishing young talent and from talking to their parents all of them deeply enjoyed it and learnt a lot so it definitely had a good impact on them,” he said.

I thought Tom Coulton was on loan to Ware and hasn't Cameron Lancaster also departed to the US now? I also see that Luton have now put Charlie Smith out on loan to Dunstable (Charlie seemed to drop out of favour after his infamous Chelmsford duck!)

About 40 players over the season! Goodness knows how Sid Prosser used to manage with a squad of about 16.
This number of players must make it difficult to achieve any consistency, team unity or understanding between the individuals. It also makes it difficult for fans to feel any affinity with players when they come and go so quickly.
Of the side that played on Saturday, only four played in the first game of the season
Joe Welch Lee Chappell Tom Ward Darren Locke Steve Wales Sam Corcoran James Comley John Kyriacou Danny Green Elliot Buchanan Loick Pires
Results would suggest that the side is no better for all the chopping and changing.

Just seen that David Keenleyside is in line up for Harpenden Town today - anyone know if that's a loan or dual registration arrangement?

Got to be dual registration and getting him some game time I would imagine

Just a test to see if my posts are read . My main point still stands though that a settled side might just perform better (though possibly not the one that played the first game of the season).

Joesph N'Guessan (striker/winger) has just joined for a month's loan from Stevenage FC. Bit surprised by this one - I had thought we had strength in wingers currently as well as having Simon Thomas alongside Frendo now
