All good except the dreadful use of the word "regret" in that context. Would love for someone to explain that to me one day.

Brackley Preview: v St Albans City FA Cup QRd3 By Tim Carroll It is again FA Cup weekend for Brackley. The third qualifying round takes Saints to Clarence Park, home of another Saints team, Conference South side St Albans City.
The last time these sides met was in the final game of the 2011-12 Southern Premier Division season at SJP when Saints beat City 6-0 and collected the championship trophy. Earlier in the season they had played out a 1-1 draw.
St Albans City gained promotion to step six last season having finished fourth in the Southern League Premier Division and beating Chesham United away 3-1 in the play-off final. City currently sit 9th in the table following successive defeats
St Alban’s FA Cup pedigree is clear reaching the second round proper on no fewer than five occasions. Last season City reached the first round losing 8-1 at home to Mansfield Town in front of more than 3000 supporters and won its place in this round with an away defeat of Hayes and Yeading United.
Brackley are on their own cup glory road with memories of last season’s first ever second round proper appearance still fresh for everyone at SJP. Saints’ path to Saturday’s tie came via a Monday night replay win at Farnborough.
Speaking after Tuesday night’s win at Lowestoft, manager Jon Brady spelled out the progress his team is making. “Our first half performance was excellent,” he said. “We carved them open. The second half saw Lowestoft come at us as the home team with nothing to lose but we were organised and determined. Ryan Austin was immense and with Tom Sharpe was a very strong defensive pairing. Billy Turley again did well for us.”
Brady continued, “What pleases me is that the team spirit is coming together. It is building. We face another tough game on Saturday. They will be physical and strong but we are defending very well and they are conceding goals. They have players such as John Frendo up front, who is a clever player who can cause us problems. It will not be easy but we will see what we can achieve.”
Former Hitchin Town forward Frendo, who netted 41 times in the 2012-13 season for Town before moving to St Albans, has scored three times this season as has Lee Chappell. Leading scorer is former Chesham striker Steve Wales with four.
Brackley have several players with niggling injuries but Brady hopes to have everyone available for selection.
BBC Radio Oxford will be covering the game with live commentary.

I have a horrible feeling about this game, asked me a week ago and I was a lot more confident but as mentioned above we've lost 2 in a row and they are unbeaten in 6 so are hitting form at the right time
The only saving grace could be that we've really upped our game in the cups under these managers. Last seasons FA Cup run, the FA Trophy run and the play off games, they seem to get the player motivated for them and being 2 games away from the 1st round proper should be motivation as well

As it doesn't look like we'll be challenging for the play offs / in a relegation struggle - a decent cup run will be the highlight of the season IMO - of course a decent cup run brings with it big £££ which could potentially form a play off contending side.

Exactly what EFMTFTV said. Bit nervous about Saturday but hopefully we can up our game and 'stop the rot' again!

Hopefully they will play like they did at Boreham Wood on Monday night, rather than the way they did against Chelmsford on Saturday. If they are prepared to battle hard, particularly in midfield, for as long as it takes to take control of the game, they have a good chance. Admittedly, I'm only going on league position and what I've read about Brackley's benefactor having pulled the plug. Am I right in thinking they are more or less a village club that has risen through the pyramid in recent years?
Good news about the entrance prices too. I don't know how it works at non-league level but I think it's still the case among league clubs (or in the competition proper) that clubs have to come an agreement about prices for the original tie and the replay shortly after the draw is made.
Is that still what happens? Does that apply to the qualifying rounds? Anyone know?

Not too sure Id want us to play like we did against the Wooood- if memory serves we lost as we did against Chelmsford, rather I want to see us win. If that is a scrappy horrid ugly performance, so be it. We lost ugly against Chelmsford, and the performance against Wooood may have seen a better effort but as we lost it is all relative. Cup games can be good for getting back on track as they are usually one-off performances with previous form nothing to go by at this level. We need everyone to put in 100% and leave nothing on the pitch at the end. Tighten up defence particularly at beginning and end of halves-no going to sleep like we did on Monday. COYS

Brackley Town FA Cup (H) Preview by Jake Ellacott After last season’s FA Cup heroics, the Saints welcome the competition back to Clarence Park this weekend, as we play host to Conference North side Brackley Town in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round. Brackley, like the Saints, have an impressive recent history in the Cup, having reached the Second Round Proper just least season. That run included an unexpected 1-0 victory over League One side Gillingham at St. James Park in a First Round Replay. Despite 63 places separating the two clubs, Glenn Walker’s 20 yard strike proved to be enough for the Northamptonshire based side to progress. Brackley, also known as the Saints, conveniently, were rewarded with an away draw against Conference Premier side Macclesfield Town, who quickly took a 2-0 lead. However, Brackley levelled things up as Steve Diggin and substitute Owen Story gave the visitors the opportunity to cause another Cup upset. But, as the final whistle approached, Jack Mackreth popped up with the winning goal for Macclesfield, sending this afternoon’s opponents crashing out at the Second Round stage. The other Saints have had a reasonably good start to season, picking up a total of 14 points from their opening 11 matches, leaving them in 15th place, four points above the drop zone, although it is probably far too early to be talking about the relegation places just yet. The boys from Northamptonshire made it two league wins on the trot with an away win over newly promoted side Lowestoft Town, and go into the match at Clarence Park in some form. In their Second Qualifying Round fixture, Brackley raced into a 2-0 lead against Conference South outfit Farnborough. But despite some good opportunities for the hosts, the Boro reduced the deficit after the half time interval with an incisive breakaway goal, before a leveller in the 84th minute took the tie to a replay at Cherrywood Road two days later. Brackley, however, made no mistake second time around, as Eric Odhiambo’s 26th minute screamer, alongside a disciplined performance, saw Brackley through the next round. The Saints themselves took on Conference South in the Second Qualifying Round, as they took on Hayes & Yeading United. A solitary Lee Chappell strike proved to be more than enough for City to progress to this afternoon’s stage of the competition. However, in the league, Jimmy Gray and Graham Golds’ men have had a little less luck, having lost two matches on the trot at the hands of Chelmsford City last weekend, and local rivals Boreham Wood on Monday evening. These two defeats will have hurt the management team, and they will be hoping to make amends, starting with the visit of Brackley this coming Saturday. An FA Cup tie at Clarence Park will undoubtedly evoke many memories of last season’s First Round proper tie against Mansfield Town, which even though it saw an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the League Two side, was a great day for the club, and demonstrated that St Albans City is ready once again to be a force in non-league football. With so much at stake, let’s make sure to cheer on the boys and create an atmosphere which they can feed off. A win this Saturday, and we’ll be one step away from the First Round proper. Kick-off at Clarence Park is 3pm Come On You Saints! www.sacfc.co.uk/index.php/teams/first-team/news-reports/2814-brackley-town-fa-cup-h-preview.html

Brackley will be very tough but if we can battle for 90 minutes like we did at Boreham Wood last Monday and keep our concentration in defence, we can win this game. The odds given above for our match, though, are quite ridiculous, when you compare them with those of the Bath City/Shortwood Utd and Sutton Utd/Burgess Hill Town games. Cue davymac55................

11/8 Saints. 13/8 Brackley. 9/4 Draw Were my quotes. Anyway having seen Brackley against Farnborough they are going to be a very tough nut for us to crack. Farnborough must have had sixty-five percent possession in the second half but Brackley hardly allowed them an opening.Their two front men looked decent and as EFMTV has said they are definitely running into form. I still haven't got over the last time we played them - probably never will ! Over a long period of time we seem to be playing much better away from home.

Comley off, Green on.
'Only' 607, still not bad, considering Brackley don't have the largest away following.

Brackley may not have the largest away following but they've brought a fair few, plus it was only 12 quid to get in, so yeah, only 607
Hopefully more in the next round! COYS
