We all know how poor our Home form has been so far and Whitehawks away form is much better than their Home form so this is going to be a tough game.

Whitehawk (H) Preview Written by Jake Ellacott The Saints return to League action at Clarence Park this Saturday, as we host Whitehawk, looking to get our first three points since a victory away to West-Super-Mare last month. It’s been a turbulent few weeks for the club, having gone out of the FA Cup at the Fourth Qualifying Round, losing to Bath City in the League last weekend, and the absence of John Frendo gaining an unexpected amount of national media attention. However, after a victory in the Herts Senior Cup on Monday evening, the Saints will be hoping that a win tomorrow will return a sense of normality to the club. Whitehawk were seen by many as possible early season favourites for promotion, following a large amount of investment in the playing squad over the summer break, with the likes of Sergio Torres joining the club. Following a tough opening few games for the East Sussex side, The Hawks have finally found their footing, and are only three points out of the play-off places having played 15 matches, more than most of the clubs around them. In their last five league outings, Whitehawk have struggled for some form, having won just once, against lowly Staines Town, drawing once, away to Havant & Waterlooville, and losing three times, at the hands of fellow Hertfordshire side Bishops Stortford, Maidenhead United, and top of the table Basingstoke. However, those three defeats came prior to the win and the draw, and The Hawks will be hopeful that they can continue to build some momentum when they visit Clarence Park. In the Cup competitions, Steve King’s men went out in the Third Qualifying Round replay to the hands of Chelmsford City, following a 4-4 draw at Whitehawk, the men from the South Coast lost 4-1 in Essex to miss out on a tie with Conference table toppers Barnet in the Final Qualifying Round. The Saints have struggled to find much luck recently, with a disappointing defeat away to Bath City last weekend summing up a tough few weeks. Strikes from Stearn and Pratt after the half time interval left Jimmy Gray and Graham Golds with plenty to think about on the coach journey back to Hertfordshire. However, things may well have taken a turn for the better on Monday at Clarence Park. Despite going 3-0 down in just over half an hour to Cheshunt, John Frendo led the Saints to a magnificent comeback, eventually winning 5-3, with Frendo himself scoring a hat-trick, while David Keenleyside got on in the act with a well taken brace himself. It was a much needed victory for both the players and the management, and they will be pleased to have progressed to the Second Round, where they will take on Kings Langley on a date still to be announced. Gray and Golds have made no secret that they wish to freshen up the squad, and have already been in contact with a number of clubs looking to bring new players in. There looks to be a number of possible arrivals over the coming few weeks, with Jimmy Gray hinting that we may even see some arrivals before the weekend’s match. One name that Saints fans will recognise is Greg Ngoyi, who departed in December 2013, but has come back to train with the Saints. However, away from potential incomings, it was announced this week that Tom Ward has mutually agreed to depart the club following a change in his personal life, which makes it more difficult to travel to matches. We wish Tom all the best for the future After a turbulent few weeks both on and off the pitch, let’s hope City can come away from this weekend's match with an important three points! www.sacfc.co.uk/index.php/teams/first-team/news-reports/2849-whitehawk-h-preview.html

They're not that good. Ruthless at taking chances though, if you make mistakes they'll probably score from them.

On paper, this will be one tough game. You can quite see why Whitehawk were made one of the pre-season favourites to win the Conference South. Their squad is loaded with ex-league players - Jake Robinson, Sam Deering, Sergio Torres and Lee Hills to name just four. I wouldn't care to hazard a guess at the size of their budget but it will be big, very big. If not the highest, it must be close to the highest in the league and all on an average home attendance, this season, of 197. Crazy.

I used to live down in Brighton & there used to be a very successful county league side called Langney Sports. They were always achieving beyond their league position & eventually became Whitehawk FC. (I think that's correct -was a long time ago). Whitehawk is an estate in east Brighton, towards the marina if you know the area. Sussex only had one league club (Brighton & Hove Albion - I enjoyed watching them at the Goldstone when I couldn't get back for the saints) until Crawley went into the league. There's a lot of potential for support in the area, especially as a second team. Am not surprised teams are pushing for success in the area - the prize could be pretty big...

Close for Saints.. But a late rally doesn't mask over defensive errors and cracks. Lucky to have been in if at 3-2 arguably.

The late spell of pressure and the flurry of scrambles and half-chances gave us hope of a point that we really didn't deserve over the ninety minutes. The first half was the worst 45 minutes I've seen this season, although those who went to Bath may say I've been fortunate!
From where I was, I couldn't tell whether their second goal was offside as our defenders claimed. The second half was better but we still looked vulnerable when Whitehawk broke on us. One of the themes of this divisions appears to be that teams take their chances and they shoot early. We seem to want to take two or three more touches, which is a luxury we don't have. The case in point was when Frendo wanted time to shoot in the second half and slipped. You get the feeling he'd have hit that early last season.
I like Sam Corcoran but I reckon he still needs a few weeks to get back to full sharpness and return to the form he enjoyed at the end of last season. Geoff Mitchell did well and was unfortunate to get substituted. I felt he might have scored again, which is more than can be said for his replacement. It's harsh to judge Nouble on 25 minutes but loan players need to make a quick impact and he made none.
A slightly disappointing crowd too, although the weather and the lack of away fans contributed significantly. Quite a flat, grumbly atmosphere on the terraces too, although it was one of those frustrating afternoons.
Does anyone know why Lee Clarke has left? And why does Big Geoff wear the number 23? I'm not opposed to it but it's a bit strange to have 1 to 10 and then number 23 when we don't have squad numbers in this league.
Still, look on the bright side... We could have been three-quarters of the way to Mansfield only to find out the game was postponed!
