Hadley can expect a stern test in Tuesday night’s Herts Senior Cup quarter-final against St Albans City at Clarence Park.
Joint managers James Gray and Graham Golds will be looking to reach the semi-final of the cup for the first time since they took the helm at the Saints. The last two years have ended in defeat at the hands of Hemel Hempstead at this stage of the competition.
SSML Premier Division outfit Hadley pose a lesser challenge than previous years - three leagues separate the teams - but Gray is not taking the competition for granted.
“We’ll have a good squad game on Tuesday night,” he said. “I want to win the game, and the cup.”
The Saints are expected to put out a mix of youth and experienced players. Gray has indicated that James Comley and David Keenleyside, both returning from injury, will feature in some capacity while James Kaloczi, who has returned from his loan spell at Wingate and Finchley, is in line for a start.
Fans could also get another look at Jack Green after his fantastic performance against Gosport Borough in the Vanarama Conference South. Youth products David Longe-King and Alex Yearwood are also expected to play.
The club has dropped the admission price to a flat rate of £5 for the game. Kick-off at Clarence Park is 7.45pm.
Hadley sit in 12th place in the Spartan South Midlands Premier with a record of W 11 D 1 L 10 F 41 A 42
Hadley are Managed by Micky Hazard and Franco Sidoli
Dom Petrucci and Dave Pigden are their top scorers with 12 goals apiece

I really enjoyed last nights game it was certainly worth the entry. Plus is not ever day you get to watch a premiership player playing at this level. Jernade Meade for those who are interested. He is playing for Hadley to keep his fitness up while he weighs up from abroad. Has played in the premiership for Arsenal and Swansea and he was absolutely superb, lightning quick too. If he fancies keeping his match fitness up whilst weighing up his offers, Jimmy should stick in a call he would be absolutely perfect for us. I also got to see the best goal I'll see down the Park all season by an ex player Dom Petrucci, Tekkers that! watch the highlights if you didn't attend. Jack Green was good again with some lovely intricate play for the first goal. I thought all the Trialist did really well and the pick of the bunch was Michael Malcolm who made some clever runs and really stretched their defence with his pace which we have clearly been lacking all season. Alex Yearwood came on again and impressed again. Really had their defence on the back heal.A very good night out indeed.

I could only make the 1st half (the benefit of only being a fiver meant I could catch half a game on way home from work before then picking up my eldest child from an evening activity) but had had gone away thinking we should approach Meade - he was very impressive and it would surely be more beneficial to him to be playing in a higher league such as the Conf South!

Michael Malcolm is an intriguing one. He was on the bench for Wealdstone when we beat them 3-0. I know many Wealdstone fans lost patience with him.
The tag that's attached itself to him is that he was a "million pound teenager" having left Wycombe Wanderers for Spurs at the age of 14. In fact, Spurs paid £10,000 initially and the rest was all linked to performance. For Wycombe to get a million quid, Malcolm would have had to score a hat-trick in the Champions League final or something. One source I read suggests Spurs paid around £100,000 for him before moving him on to Stockport.
He's had a nomadic career going from club to club. Clearly people are persuaded by his prodigious start in football and the idea that he must have *something*.
And perhaps he does. Players like this intrigue me. Can he produce some performances here when he's failed to stick at Wealdstone, Whitehawk and about another dozen clubs in the south-east?
In a sense, Gray and Golds have nothing to lose. Malcolm will either score some goals and add something to the team or he'll follow through the revolving door marked No.10 behind Nwokeji, Dean, McBean, Buchanan and so on. Not sure where Pires fits in all this... He's stuck in the revolving door, going round and round. We can't quite manage to get him to pop out on the pavement side and make his merry way somewhere else.

According to the normally reliable "Hatboy's List" Pires has gone.

Ah, cheers Canary. And Hatboy. I'd missed that.
Shame it didn't work out for him. On paper he looked like a decent acquisition but I can't remember ever feeling impressed by him.
It's amazing how many forward players there are, at all levels of the game, who offer so little in terms of a threat to defenders.

Yes, Pires was released after the Bromley game I believe.

Despite what Happened to him at Wealdstone, he still scored 5 in 7 games hardly a bad return. Would be nice to see a wealdstone perspective. I know we have a wealdstone fan on here.

It's amazing how many forward players there are, at all levels of the game, who offer so little in terms of a threat to defenders. I agree - he showed flashes of promise but made too many poor choices on the pitch. I had thought that he would benefit from some time at a club with really experienced strikers (Whitehawk for example) to help him develop but I now see that he is 25: he should be further on in his development if he's going to make an impression at Conference level. You're right, there are just too many average strikers at all levels of the game; the successful ones are those who have that speed of thought that enables them to create distance from the defenders around them. Pires didn't have it.
