Saints (2) 2 WSM (0) 0
Corcoran 11, Frendo 31

3 points at last and the first double of the season. I have to say that it was a little bit nervy at the end, though. COYS!

Thank goodness for that. It's been such a terrible run until today. Let's hope it's a confidence booster and they get another 3 points against Staines.

Nice to see a comfortable win , even if it was against a very poor defence. I thought our defence did well today, the midfield was generally well in control and the new man took some of the pressure off Frendo and gave him the chance to show us a little more of what he can do. He probably scored the feeblest goal of the season but what the heck -it crawled in somehow! A clean sheet must be good for the confidence. Well done Saints, and especially well done Jamal, who was my man of the match today. Weston's no. 4 will be going home a very tired man. Now for Staines and we can start to think about hacing made a good start in our first season in this league.

A great 3 points against an in-form team that, according to their FAN at the game, did not perform up to recent form standards-toughluck! The early goal settled us and John's goal clearly got a monkey off his back. The goal was greeted with great relief and whilst some said it was a bit jammy(me included) upon reflection its what a predatory striker should be getting. First goal was well struck and whilst it was good to see James C playing, still one touch too many at times. We also allowed WSM too many easy runs at us and we won a game that should have been more comfortable than it was. The players /staff were loudly cheered in the bar after the game and the air of relief was evident. jamal Lowe was a constant threat and had a good game On to Staines game and another double hopefully. 6 more points should see us safe and in this Div for another season. On the down side, didn't quite understand the changes we made with the subs. We could easily have conceded two at the end. Disappointing attendance as well but to be expected with our form. Highlights the hard-core crowd we can genuinely expect on a regular basis and really doesn't help the case for any move to a bigger better ground.

Of course our crowd was massive compared to the promotion chasing Woooooods. Well done to the 201 fans who could be **sed to go to the game. nearly fifty less than saw doomed Staines at home. If we were in their position Id imagine crowds of up to 1000. Cant fathom it. Maybe they aint charging enough at the gate? ?

I wasn't at the game on Saturday but I followed from afar and was very pleased to see that Saints scored an early goal for a change, rather than going behind.
Very good to end a poor run and, listening to Jimmy Gray's interviews over recent weeks, it has felt like the gloom had set in a bit. This week's interview was quite enlightening in that he said how positive and sharp players look in training but that the team has seemed to lack that spark in matches too frequently.
I think when we reflect on this season, we'll see it as one of two halves. Until Christmas, I still believed it was not beyond the bounds of possibility that we might challenge for the play-offs. I didn't really think we'd make it but I thought we might push on and keep the hope alive until quite close to the end of the season – a bit like Hemel have. I don't think they will make it either but they have that carrot to chase and if they went on an amazing run the amazing could still happen.
However, since Christmas it has been a bit of a slog. Losing at Hemel and at home to Wealdstone were particularly disappointing, although the wins over Gosport and Concord were good.
As for Saturday's crowd, well, I agree with others who've said it was inevitable. When you look at it, fifteen notes to watch a team with a home record of W6 D3 L7 before Saturday (and is not in immediate relegation trouble) is always going to be a hard sell. People will simply do something else as a good 200-300 appear to have done.
Nevertheless, a good chance to win back-to-back home games, against Staines on the 28th, and if they could beat Eastbourne and Ebbsfleet too then there'll be a bit of the feel-good factor back before the summer.
Shame about the Herts Senior Cup defeat at Boreham Wood. I missed that too but was hoping they might pick a weaker team, given they are chasing promotion.

A much improved performance from the Saints, especially in the first half and good to see John Frendo on the scoresheet. After their recent good run, I have to say that I expected a lot more from Weston. They didn't impress at all and didn't seem a lot better than they were at the Woodspring back in October, if I am honest. I thought Sam Corcoran had a superb game, probably one of his best of the season for us and was MOM for me. Only one problem - he picked up yet another booking and, if my maths is right, that is his 14th. One more and he will be out for 3 games. A good solid debut by Simon Thomas and another good performance again from Jamal Lowe.
Looking forward to our next double on Saturday week.
COYS!

That Corcoran goal is a real peach. Great technique. As if we needed further proof that he's our most capable player.

It's up for debate, certainly, but I think Corcoran is a step above in terms of what he can do with a football. Comley has other qualities that make him perhaps a better all-round midfielder, but technically-speaking I believe Corcoran has the edge. Others may disagree.
