Best of luck to Omar. Obviously it's disappointing to lose him, but he's clearly a very talented player, and there's no point in standing in his way.
After the very sad bereavement he suffered before the end of the season, it's great to see Omar progressing as a player, and I'm sure his Dad will be very proud of him.

So we now have a gap in defence/midfield, presumably Martin will fill void? Be good to sign Connor Calcutt think.

So we now have a gap in defence/midfield, presumably Martin will fill void? Be good to sign Connor Calcutt think. I n my opinion, Beckles would've been used in midfield this season probably? I guess it's whether we look towards Danny Green to stepping up into that defensive midfield role (Which he did during the final few games of last season) Or try to do something else...

Also, for those interested.... Similar to last summer when with us, Frendo is yet to turn out for Hemel during pre-season... Injury... Apparently..

IMO Frendo never recovered last season from not having a decent pre-season, he looked off the pace from the off, could be a similar story this year I predict he'll be on loan at Hitchin by Christmas
Shame about Beckles but I actually forgot he was with us

Liked Beckles but wasn't a world beater IMO. His departure would have been perfect for James Koloczi to secure a permanent place in the side and prove his worth. Big loss IMO but have no idea about his off field 'behaviour' that might have helped his departure. I work with Dunstable Town treasurer and she says he is a lovely lad!

Agree with most of the stuff about Omar. He is a good player, it isn't surprising that his potential has been spotted. When a player moves on to a higher standard, it is just a case of "Thanks & good luck". A good vindication of the management duo's ability to spot decent potential. Omar's departure does open up a squad space which would have (In my opinion) been perfect for James Kaloczi.... On talent/ability alone I think Kaloczi is more than capable of playing at this (and a higher) level.

Jimmy's revealed post match that Lampe's illness is much more long term, and he's unlikely to stay at the club now.
Discussions continuing with Calcutt following his double today.

From y own perspective, I really hope Calcutt will sign, and Jimmy said we're meeting with him again this week. He's still quite a way away from full fitness, but I thought he looked good today, and showed his goalscoring ability with his two strikes.

Luke Allen and Ngoyi were both unavailable today, therefore explaining their absences. (Although, with us looking at Calcutt, will Ngoyi get a chance here?)

Jimmy's revealed post match that Lampe's illness is much more long term, and he's unlikely to stay at the club now. My mate from Concord said he had this illness a couple of years ago and was surprised it has blown up again He also said he heard that Lampe was heading back to Concord So read into that all you want I suppose with Ben returning and Howard Hall clearly still in their plans Lampe may have become surplus to a degree

It all sounds like a complete mess. All we need is Frendo back and we can play the same side that struggled most of last season. How can Ben Martin go from being the root of our defensive problems to being the mainstay ? Kaloczi is a loss, and we lack balance on the left, even if Hilliard can play there. We can't afford Calcutt, presumably.
Is Medlock playing for us ?

Calcutt had always wanted to join Wealdstone as his first choice this summer... It's up to them to offer a deal I suppose now (We'll be waiting in the wings if they don't).
I guess Medlock was just unavailable.

Jesus, the season hasn't even started yet the old moaners are already out sniping. With the loss of Beckles, and according to Saint (who knows everything that goes on at the club)Lampe,we obviously needed another centre half for the squad,Ben Martin seems like a good option to me.Personally I thought that James Comley would now be the mainstay of the defence,Martin had a bad game at Wealdstone in the Cup and was vilified by some very occasional supporters on here and twitter and subsequentially departed the club, but has served us with distinction for many years. If you had attended the match at Waltham Abbey you might have a better appreciation of our left flank, where Hilliard seemed to this observer to be the perfect fit, albeit against inferior opposition than he will face on a weekly basis.

Disagee with above, think we got better squad than last season, top ten looking at.

I suppose I am moaning, but it is because I am concerned that our squad will struggle in this league. I hope I am wrong, and that the bookies are wrong too ! Jimmy Gray himself talks about still wanting to strengthen in a few areas in his latest interview. Good news if Hilliard can play wide left. He is a good player, and is relatively two-footed, but he has not played at this level before. Nevertheless, I am hopeful about him. However, Medlock, Allen, and Martin are all players who have been released by clubs at or near our level, perhaps they will find their best form with us, it often happens when changing clubs, we will see. Lampe is a very different type of player to Martin, and I think it is disappointing not to have a highly mobile and versatile younger player who can, and has, played all along the back line at Concord ( and I think in midfield too) Comley is a similar player to him, and probably better, so maybe all is well.

Personally I think there is plenty to be positive about with the season only a couple of weeks away. I think the squad is far more balanced than it was at the end of the last season and we've signed some exciting players (Hilliard and Allen particularly) if pre-season is anything to go by. Like a few others on here I was a little surprised by the Martin signing, but after the loss of Beckles and apparently Lampe it's beginning to make a lot more sense. Granted he's not the long-term solution, but we know what we're getting with him and that's important with the season so close.
