Decent workout on what looked like a beautiful playing surface. A game that we could also have nicked in the 2nd half. Simon Thomas was not playing today so there was not exactly a lot of height up front to pick up any high stuff coming through from the back. A great performance by Danny Green in the 1st half.
1st Half
Tamás Horváth (Ben McNamara) Michael Richins Lee Chappell Danny Green James Comley Darren Locke Omar Beckles Sam Corcoran Rod Young Greg Ngoyi Billy Medlock
2nd Half
Ben McNamara John Kyriacou Howard Hall Luke Allen David Longe-King Darren Locke Lewis Hilliard Sam Corcoran (Kayode Bola) Kieran Bishop Michael Malcolm Steve Wales
Part way through the 1st half, keeper Tamás Horváth picked up what looked like an ankle injury and was unable to continue. A great pity, as he was having a very solid game up to that point. As we had no sub keeper, he was replaced by the Boreham Wood sub keeper, Ben McNamara who proved to be a more than able deputy.

I quite like pre season friendlies if there are new players on view, but understand why a lot of supporters give them a swerve because ten pounds a go is over the odds. Clubs need to understand it is about 'perceived value' and not about tipping us upside-down and shaking the money out of our pockets to watch usually uncompetitive matches. That said this wasn't completely 'friendly' as Cox set the tone with two very strong challenges early on,and we gave plenty back. We were second best by a long way in the first half, Beckles seemed to be playing as a third centre back to start with and leaving us outnumbered in midfield, and with three relatively small forwards we lost every ball in the air. Second half we were a great deal better, the introduction of Keiran Bishop gave us more height, pace and power up front,he looked an interesting prospect. A couple of players looked very unfit but we still have a month to go before we start in ernest so I'm not too concerned. Corcoran continues to frustrate, one piece of sublime skill to set up Malcolm for a disallowed goal, then a ridiculous challenge from behind on one of their players in the Wood half of the pitch facing his own goal, rightly taken off straight after that piece of stupidity.Chappell broke his own Guinness World Record of taking the longest time ever to recover his position after venturing into the opponents penalty area. All in all a pleasant afternoon in the sunshine, and I would have thought much more meaningful for the management than playing against League teams.
