Final score 0-2. Much better than Monday night however, played with more intensity and gave Ebbsfleet more to think about in the first 45mins than the entirety of Monday night. Ebbsfleet were incredibly sound at the back, one of the best defensive performances I've seen at Clarence Park for a long while. Good to see Ian Gayle back.

I'll move a comment from another thread as its more relevant here: The Ebbsfleet No10 is John Paul Kissock, who was at Whitehawk last season. Ex league player and I am guessing that he won't have come cheap. According to this report from Whitehawk manager Steve King on the National League website, he's on at least £1k per week: King said: “We have only lost one player that we wanted to keep in Kissock. JP has moved sideways for money reasons. We can’t compete when a player is offered four figures. It is not as though he has moved up the road for £50, he has got himself a great deal. www.footballconference.co.uk/news/details.php?news_id=15489If JP Kissock is on that money, what on earth are Danny Kedwell (9 today) and Robbie Willmott (11) on?! I was very impressed with Kenny Clark today, he was exceptionally good at the back. Strong and quick. Edit: I forgot today's sub Danny Haynes who won't have come cheap either given his experience with 250 Football League games at Ipswich, Bristol City, Barnsley, Charlton and Notts County

Thought it was a better performance today, especially in the first 20 minutes until Ebbsfleet came into the game. Still missing a pacey winger who can run at teams and cause problems.

Maybe we do need a pacy winger, although I don't think that would have made much difference today as they defended deeply with a double pivot. A runner can unsettle many teams, however I didn't get the impression Fleet are the type of team to be fazed by pace down the flanks. The best option appeared to be to overload one side and try to drag the defence far enough over to switch play to either Coms or Chappell to attack the empty space. We did that a few times in the first half and I thought we were unlucky not to score one or two goals. Gravesend sorted that problem out in the second half and it seemed that every time we attacked they had at least four in the box. They moved so well as a unit that I could understand why we were playing so many long balls over midfield to Thomas. He won most of his headers and its just a shame for him that so many times nobody could get on the end of them; and when they did, the Fleet defenders closed them down so quickly. Like so many lower league games, I can't understand how Saints didn't win 5-1 given the numner of very good chances we made, yet I think Fleet fully deserved to win 2-0 given how well they defended and how they took their chances when it mattered. That's the illogicality of non-league football I suppose.

Couldn't make the game today but it's good to hear we were better than Monday.
Let's not forget that during our promotion season under Lord Lippiatt we only had 4 points after 4 games. Here's to hoping for our first win next week!

it didnt help what with Comley gifting them a penalty. Is Kyriacou not fully fit ? - what was he doing on the bench with Comley in his position? My heart sinks everytime i see Comley in the starting line up. Locke must be gutted after the shift he put in last season to see Martin take his place (what is the saying about never return to a team you have transferred from) ? Thought Gayle was immense. Cant believe that Keenleyside was not begged to stay for this season (what was the problem there) ?? Not sure what the new number 7 (no idea who he is) does for the money. Nice pieces of tippy tappy passing yesterday but unfortunately with no end result. Corcoran is an excellent player but probably needs to have less caffeine before a game. Wales also seems to be out of favour (or is he injured) ? What is going on ?? Aaarrrgggh.

Locke, Wales and and Danny Green are all injured. Comley is quality and I thought he had a very decent game yesterday against very tough opposition. All about opinions, I guess. Agree about Gayle, though. A great performance.

An Ebbsfleet fan mentioned to me that during the first half, we caused them more problems than they had faced in their opening two games, and in previous seasons, said the Fleet would have easily lost this game.
