For those who may be interested, a 15 min video clip of Saturday's Wealdstone v Eastbourne Borough game. Not exactly very riveting viewing.

I know it's done by volunteers and any Twitter updates are very gratefully received by supporters who can't make it to matches but twice this evening the Saints Twitter feed has put the wrong score.
The full-time update says Eastbourne Borough 0-1 St Albans City.
Just keep it simple - Eastbourne 1 Saints 0 - so we can all see what the actual result is!
Poor result. I'll wait to see what those who travelled made of the performance but it goes without saying one goal and three defeats from four is not terribly encouraging.
Nick Archer's target of 20 points from the first 10 games is now out of reach...

In contrary to what I read from other fans of ours with regards to the game against Ebbsfleet, I didn't like our performance at all on Saturday.
Today's result only confirms my fears that this will be a long season and will go down to the very last game.
Saying this, we have to remember that we certainly have the most difficult 5 opening games (including the one against Bath) in the league.

It's a cliche but there are no easy games. Bath have won all four so far and both Chelmsford and Hemel have started well.
Nothing for it but for the team to dig in and work hard and for the supporters to get behind them.
It has been a tough start but Oxford City were held by Basingstoke tonight. Last week some were talking about them as if they were the reincarnated spirit of the 1970 Brazil team. So things can change and we are capable of getting a result against anyone. Beat Bath on Saturday and the team will get a real boost, I'm sure.

I really don't think the chairman comments were in no any way helpful. I listen to Grey interviews "we don't start favourites against anyone" etc and there a complete disjuncture between what they say. I think Grey more realistic - given our budget we have one realistic objective: avoid relegation (anything else is a welcome bonus).
The thing about Ebbsfleet was that I thought we played quite well in first half. Knocked it around nicely, keep a decent shape but (as I recall) did not create a single clear cut chance. The problem is that even in periods of play were we look Ok we do not look like scoring

No service for the forwards a big issue at the moment... Theo looks very good in my opinion, but has to drop deep for any service, which just doesn't suit his style.

Current league table - Saturday will be 1st vs 2nd from bottom. We'll really need to dig deep and create chances for our forwards. I think Theo has had two clear chances so far this season and put them both away (one disallowed vs Gosport) - he just needs that decent service. www.stalbanscityfc.com/league-table/

What a depressing evening, the only highlight was at half time when they played Toots And The Maytals.
In reality when you are trailing by one goal you usually have hope."It only takes a second to score a goal" is what they say on TV. But in actuality, tonight the Saints fans had absolutely no hope at all. Once the Red Sea had opened and we allowed Eastbourne through for their goal this match was over, game set and match, three points to the home side,go home and have an early night, but no,the faithful stayed on and had their life blood slowly drained out of their veins, the oxygen sucked out of their lungs and were left broken and battered on the rocks after this shipwreck of a performance.
Too depressed to dissect this monstrosity tonight, and hopefully by the time I wake up it has been erased from my memory banks.
Another performance like this on Saturday and there will be a pressure drop around AL1.

Harsh words from the Herts Ad: www.hertsad.co.uk/sport/st-albans-city/identity_less_saints_beaten_by_rapid_eastbourne_borough_1_4199473"Last season, it was clear what City wanted to do: get the ball down and let the creativity of Sam Corcoran and James Comley win them games.
The brief remains the same. The managers want to play the ball on the ground but Simon Thomas is counter-intuitive to that approach as City launched long balls in his direction. With a big front man, getting balls into the box should be imperative but, in Lewis Hilliard and Luke Allen, the Saints don’t have the width or speed to attack down the wings.
All in all, it resulted in a side that lack cohesion and the understanding of each other that hopefully will come in time. In needs to, and quick if City are going to get points on the board in August."

Did Jack Green play? and if not, why not?
His arrival in the side at the tail end of last season really made a difference, we spent all summer trying to get him to sign

The worrying thing is, 3 of the 4 teams we've dropped points to so far were teams that we turned over in the final 4 games of last season so we've clearly gone backwards

.................Poor result. I'll wait to see what those who travelled made of the performance but it goes without saying one goal and three defeats from four is not terribly encouraging........... Some brief but honest assessments on last nights game - Difficult journey down but a good journey back. Great playing surface, perfect for passing football. Unfortunately, only Eastbourne really seemed able to take advantage of it. Our midfield, for the most part was non existent, being overrun for long periods in the game. We were generally second to all loose ball and when we did gain possession, gave it back far too easily. Lack of pace on the flanks. Outstanding performances on the night by both Gayle and Theophanous (who had very little support). Average performances by some, below average performances by some, dire performances by some. Fairly even for the first 15 or so minutes before Eastbourne took control and eventually went ahead with a very soft goal, following a crucial defensive error. Very much downhill from thereon in. The three substitutions were an improvement and certainly late on, we put a lot of pressure on Eastbourne. You couldn't fault the effort but it wasn't enough. We really need to come away with at least a point from games like these. A very late night. COYS!

Wonder if the journey down had any impact of the performances of the players ?
