A win is important today IMO.
However.... Quite a few injuries in the squad I understand, with one or two picked up during the week.

I would of thought the thread would of been started with a preview of the match !
Margate face St Albans at Hartsdown Park tomorrow (Saturday) with both sides still looking for their first win of the campaign.
Margate welcome St Albans to Hartsdown Park tomorrow (Saturday) still looking for their debut win in the Vanarama National League South.
The Blues have taken just four points from their opening seven games after four draws and three defeats, however Browns side will be desperate to avoid a third defeat in a row after two losses over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Scoring goals remains a problem for Margate despite netting their first goal in 447 minutes in Mondays 2-1 away defeat at Concord, Browns side have not scored a goal in open play for five games, Danny Greens opener at Whitehawk being the last.
Margate face opposition tomorrow that have scored less times than the misfiring Blues. St Albans have netted just four times this season so far and are also still searching for their opening win of the campaign.
The Saints will have been boosted on Friday though by the arrival of striker Ade Yussuf from League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge on loan for one month. The last time these two sides met was back in April 2005 as Margate were undone by St Albans who left Hartsdown Park with all three points as they beat the Blues 3-2.
Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm but if you can’t be there you can keep right up to date on the clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc

Fantastic result - and we needed that with Weston getting a surprise win away to Stortford. Does look like some of the surprise strong starters - like Stortford and Hayes - might be starting to fall away now. Now we are out of the bottom 3 we can hopefully go and get more points from Truro next Saturday and start climbing the table.

A tough first half, when we could easily have gone behind had Margate taken their chances. The game changed totally after Theo's superb strike in the 52nd minute. A great work rate from everyone and terrific performances especially from Theo, Coms and last, but not least, Ben Martin. A colossal effort today from the big man. A big well done to all concerned. Things will be rocking in Margate tonight!

A very good three points and something to build on. Had we lost or drawn, we'd have been bottom of the table. It's very early days but psychologically that would not have been great with a long trip to Truro coming up.
I was surprised to read that Billy Medlock had been replaced. I thought he had looked the brightest and most energetic of the new forward players in the most recent couple of games I've seen.

A very good team effort, and congrats to the management team for bringing on Simon Thomas at half time, his introduction changed the whole dynamic of this game. Yussuf and Theophanus were industrious in the first half but lost every high ball and struggled to keep hold of it when the ball was on the deck. Thomas gave their centre halves a difficult time and set up Theo for the goal which was excellently finished. The substitution meant Yussuf playing wide and Krans playing central midfield which was a risk as he has little to offer there but Comley and Sow worked tirelessly to compensate. Honourable mention for Ben Martin who was a giant today, and also to Longe-King who had to play at right back, clearly this will never be his position but he kept things simple and played his part. Considering how threadbare the squad is at the moment this was a very good win.

Margate weren't great, but considering the injuries we have, and previous performances prior to Hemel, this was a good win which I have no doubt we will build upon. Stand out performances from Longe-King, Martin, Sow, Comley, Theophanous and Yussuf, although no one put a foot wrong today, and the team deserve the win.
Have to say, all the new arrivals, Sow, Krans, Yussuf, and of course Gayle, while it is early days, look to have really improved the side, and have injected an energy which we were missing during the opening few games. Well done to the managers for getting these player's in, and giving them starts.
Yussuf worked well up top with both Theo and Thomas when he came on, and has instantly replaced the running which Medlock did, and never allowed the Margate defence to rest. He was also very vocal, and was constantly urging City to keep up the pressure.
Comley, especially during the second half, was a cut above in midfield, and controlled the game. It was the Comley which we've missed in the early games, and in part it's come from having Sow in there with him, who does a lot of the running, while Comley sits back and just plays the ball (Although he gets forward too).
Cracking finish from Theo getting past two players before dragging it onto his left and powering home. Give him service, and he will score you goals, no doubt.

Couldn't make today as Mrs Stalbanandy had enough of Chelmsford last weekend. Especially the deposit in the toilet when she checked in the hotel while I was at the game! Sounds a good performance by a few of the lads and a very welcome 3 points. As posted on a previous thread I have been critical of Big Ben but sounds like he is bringing his A game to the party at last. We need that as he always give me the impression that if his head is right he can be the best player on the park but Jimmy knows him better than most and obviously feels the need to give him a kick up the bottom sometimes. Simon T would be in my starting 11 always. He takes stick on the terraces but unless you are Barcelona you need the ball to stick up top and Simon does that. Heskey was so underated for England and did the same job. As said previously on this thread Louie and the new lad struggled to hold the ball up and that has been a problem for Louie all season. I feel sorry for him as he hasn't had much service but I can count on 1 hand the headers he has won this season. To be fair even if he does win one we havnt had anyone feeding off him. When Luke is back get him running beyond! Not surprised about Billy. We are in a scrap to get up the league. All the sides we have played this season have strong or pacey forwards, Bradley Budd, Billy Bricknell, Danny Kedwell etc and unfortunately Billy's enthusiasm wasn't the answer

A word of praise for the referee yesterday, Lee Venamore, who allowed the game to flow and was excellent.

Solid performance overall, it's making such a difference to have Sow and Krans offering more movement and to have Krans offering a pace outlet.
Ben Martin was excellent but Comley definitely MOTM for his second half performance.
