Hardly earth shattering. Shields and Johnson have each only made 1 appearance for Ebbsfleet this season in the Kent Senior Cup and already both have had loan spells at Chelmsford and Bishop's Stortford, respectively. Clearly neither are good enough for Ebbsfleet and do not figure in Daryl McMahon's long term plans.

I couldn't be there today but that sounds like a terrific win.
What a difference a week makes.
It makes you wonder what was going on for results to be so awful lately if the same group of players can produce that result after a few days with a new manager. Particularly baffling when you consider Wheeler was part of the coaching group during that awful run too.
What's changed?
Anyway, we can look upwards now. The games between now and Oxford City on Jan 23 are all winnable if we can produce good performances so perhaps we can drag ourselves out of the bottom three and away from trouble over the Christmas and New Year period.

What's changed?
Rumours that FA Cup win bonus was agreed before the game, missing under golds AND gray.

What's changed? Rumours that FA Cup win bonus was agreed before the game, missing under golds AND gray. Interesting. I'd heard there had been a dispute about whether or not a bonus for reaching the first round would be paid, but I don't know the details. Anyone know the story?

I was at the match and was standing close to essexgirl but I didn't hear any rumours.

Stuart Cash must hate Clarence Park.(I assume there is only one person with that name in NL football)

What a great and much needed win yesterday let's hope a launch pad for a run ! As far as the bonus was/is concerned a figure was agreed to be paid to the players (5%of the amount generated from the run ) but when it came to pay out it was not forthcoming from " the owners " I hasten to add not the chairman . Now what happened in the last few days too be honest is beyond a lot of us and would £100 each produced a winning display /mentality who knows , but whatever it was long may it continue !!☝️

It makes you wonder what was going on for results to be so awful lately if the same group of players can produce that result after a few days with a new manager. Particularly baffling when you consider Wheeler was part of the coaching group during that awful run too. What's changed? Perhaps it was the arrival of the luck that Gray was searching for? I was very surprised Saints didn't go into the break three goals down (including the missed penalty) and even in the second half Margate had chances they blazed over the bar or wide. We took the chances we had and it was those two goals in three minutes early in the second half that made the different. After that Margate looked a shadow of the side they were in the first half and we started passing the ball around confidently. Comley to Corcoran to Chappell and back in the manner of our promotion-winning season. I don't doubt that Harry Wheeler has made a significant difference to the mentality of the team and I was very impressed by his decision to put Chappell on the left side of midfield with Bender at left-back. I still think that the way we opened up and started playing some great football after we went 2-0 up should be the catalyst for a winning run that will take us up to midfield. The players have shown that they still have the skill to take other teams apart and win convincingly, even if it was for the last 30 minutes against demoralised opponents.

I agree, luck and confidence. Margate could well have had the game sown up by half time but the saved penalty seemed to inspire Saints and they finished the job. Superb goal by Corcoran but my man of the match was Comley, a class above the rest. A lot better performance but I still think we need an experienced manager with a bit of pedigree.

I wasn't at the game yesterday but could the performance be down to 'new manager syndrome' ? How many times have we seen after a manager departs that there is an improved performance for a handful of games.
Most important is the 3 points. Onwards and upwards!

A much needed win that keeps us in touch but still 2nd bottom but with at least one gamein hand up to Wealdstone. Could have done without Basingstoke and WSM also getting similar morale boosting wins.Saw little of game due to other tasks but was there to see us concede an unnecessary penalty. came from a move we should have had covered- wasa penalty though. Thankfully a shocking spot kick and so the game may have went in our favour from this point. Saw the third goal( pass it! Pass it! ... Great goal!) Good to get a win and a clean sheet. Long way to go and improvement needed especially in terms of discipline. cant afford to lose supposedly key players just cos they want to act like kids and cant keep their mouths shut. Unnecessary really. Nothing but wins over Xmas period as we cannot rely on teams around us to do us favours as we saw results we didn't want yesterday. Well done. good result. Much more needed. manager situation needs a prompt resolution. think ive an idea how it may go.

Stuart Cash must hate Clarence Park.(I assume there is only one person with that name in NL football) Yes that'll be the famous Stuart Cash who was in charge for one game then changed his mind but he unwittingly led us to one of the most successful eras ever when his assistant - Colin Lippiat - decided to stay on as manager

I was at the game yesterday and while we clearly rode our luck somwhat in the first first half, I thought the second display was excellent. One question I have about Harry Wheeler. I know its very early days but I been impressed with what he had to say in his interviews, I also like the way he never got on the players backs at any point during the Margate match. But if he does not want to be considered for the job long-term could there be a issue with him serving under a new managers if he has a substantial period as caretaker manager and does reasonably well? Could having a chap under the new manager who has (even if only for a month or so) had success in your job not make life more difficult for a new manager. If your averaging fewer points than a caretaker who still at the club, people will inevitably make unfavourable comparsions?

I would be surprised if the new manager is not in place by the next game on 15th Dec.

the magnificent display / result on Saturday begs the question : Were the players in the starting 11 not also available to Gray / Golds to pick and play in those very same positions. Maybe Harry Wheeler is a tactical genius because this was a massive improvement. Nunn and Bender at the back were solid.

Maybe Harry Wheeler is a tactical genius because this was a massive improvement. Nunn and Bender at the back were solid. From what(little)I have witnessed one of the smartest moves was to shift Chapell into midfield. I personally thought he used to wander too far up field. Look back at the season's videos and see the number of times he was AWOL when the opposition were attacking on his flank. I'm not picking on Chapell, I'm sure that there were others who could be faulted or playing in the wrong position. Time will now tell. One swallow does not make a summer. It should be interesting over the next few weeks to see how things pan out, no matter who the new manager turns out to be.
