Actually a much improved performance today after the Sutton loss. At 1-1 we "scored" from a very poorly defended corner and then went 2-1 down from what looked like an offside position. Shame as we stopped Oxford from playing first half and had a good goal ruled out for no good reason.

I cant remember what time they scored there 1st. Might have been around sixty minutes but we were the best team comfortably before they equalised and I'll argue with anyone that says other wise. Unfortunately what happens next turned the game on its head when the officials decided to become the star of the show at 1-1. Unless I missed something we had a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out.You know when the officials haven't got a clue, when they point at the wrong player who was no where near the suggested foul. To add insult to injury OXFORD go straight down the other end and score. Spoke to three Oxford fans who said he was offside by a mile.To anyone who pipes up who didn't go today. Don't pick your fights today. The only thing you could level at the players was their mentality after the officials screwed them. Charlie McDonald was brilliant and if not for Laurie walker with a ridiculous save, McDonald against other keepers would have scored a second. Looks a great addition from a one game perspective. He battles, he snaps, he chases and give defenders no time on the ball. 34 years of age showing theo what commitment is all about.

We are not relegated - losing to a team in top 4 is no disgrace. We matched them for 60 minutes until we had had a decent goal ruled out at 1-1 and they then immediately went 2-1 up. Yes we should have maintained concentration but we showed that we do have what it takes to battle till the end this season

Asaintreborn is right - too easy to comment on that result if you weren't actually at the game...

Sorry - I wasn't at the game. It was just a bit of a shock to see the score suddenly go 4-1.
I have always said I dont mind if we lose, but have put in the effort.
Sounds like we put in the effort.......

The results over the last 6 games are as follows: DLDDLLMuch as it saddens me this is not the form of a team on the road to recovery.

The link to the interview on the website doesn't work. Interview can be accessed here The most worrying thing on the interview is Harry's comment that the players think they are too good to get relegated ! Unless that attitude changes immediately, we will be relegated.

Did the left side of City's defence not bother coming out in the second half?

Were you not at the game ? Don't comment if you weren't Unless you were being ironic, that is exactly the kind of attitude that discourages more active comment on this forum (a place for debate, not a place for a few insiders to let slip the occasional pearl of wisdom before the great unknowing) Incidentally the pundits on MOTD last night also did not attend most if not any of the games they commented on.

Interview link now working.
Apologies if sounded like I was saying don't comment if you don't go to the match. Was more a reaction to the assumption we played like we did against Sutton when in fact for nearly 70 minutes we matched a very good side and so nearly went back in front after conceding the equaliser. We did go to pieces once Bender goal disallowed which was a poor reaction.
We need to now win 8 games in my view to have a chance of staying up. We probably need another experienced head like MacDonald but maybe in midfield. The team needs to take forward the first 45 minutes when we didn't even allow Oxford City at decent chance on goal. But we need to make Clarence Park the "fortress" where we get our much needed wins and maybe that's we can help as supporters.

I've got to disagree with some of the comments on here - and I was at the game. We deservedly went in at half time ahead, a combination of a pretty good City performance, a poor performance by Oxford and having a strong wind at our backs.
The second half, they absolutely battered us. They had something like 6 corners in about 10 minutes and we struggled to get into the Oxford half. When we did get some decent posession, we still looked like we could pinch a goal but on the whole, it was one way traffic.
The referee was poor, I couldn't see why the goal was disallowed and the two bookings of our full backs were a joke. Bender was on a final warning after making a perfect tackle a few minutes earlier and this seemed to unsettle him and the rest of the defence who then went to pieces.

Completely agree about those bookings. The Bender booking was shocking - for a nothing challenge and it wasnt as though he had been persistently fouling either

Oxford City won 3-0 but this was against a Cheltenham side made up of mainly reserve and youth team players.

I felt reluctant to comment on the Oxford City game because I didn't go, but I feel that when a club (manager, players or supporters) start feeling that 4-1 defeats (whether away to one of the leading sides or not) were just a bit unlucky, then it indicates the writing is on the wall.
It's a bit like saying: "We totally dominated them except for the four times they cut through our defence and scored."
Whether we played well or deserved more out of the game, the fact is we got thrashed again and we're bottom of the table having played more games than everyone bar Basingstoke.
The current run is horrible, and relegation form. A 5-0 defeat followed by a 4-1 defeat. Or, to go back to mid-December, two points from a possible 18.
By all means let's look at the positives but how much longer can we go on clutching at straws?
I keep saying it but it really doesn't matter how we play, or whether we do well for 20, 40 or 60 minutes and feel we deserved more out of a game. Points are all that count now. Wealdstone were totally dominated by Dartford last night (by all accounts) but they found a way to win. Can you see us doing that at the moment?
The revolving door is spinning again with players coming and going (Crawford has ended up at Dover who are fifth in the Conference). For the past year our player recruitment has been like a blind-folded dart player hoping to hit the treble 20.
We need three points against Truro and it doesn't matter how we get them. Any ugly, battling win will do because if we drop more points the gap will start to open and it really will be too late.
