Well, that's one more, let's see what he is like if he plays tomorrow, but he'll be in the squad whatever. I'll be interested in seeing what our squad is going to be tomorrow anyway, given that lA seemed to say in his state ment that there were a lot of players available but he wasn't going to overpay for players with other players coming back from injury.

Promising star! That sounds good
Anyone know his stats from his time at Hampton?
Wonder how much of Gabriel's wages have gone on him

That's one way of saying we are limited in who we can afford to bring in Well l think we are to be honest if what IA says is true. So if we are to compete for a play off place, we haven't got much choice but to hope that we don't pick up any more injuries and that our Players that are out injured at the moment, come back soon, and we don't lose any more players through injury.

Guess that plus Gabriel leaving will free up a few funds for a new signing or two

Guess that plus Gabriel leaving will free up a few funds for a new signing or two Not necessarily how it works. Managers often overspend at start of season in hope that cup runs bring in enough income so that overspend can be maintained to end of season. However I'd expect another player to be incoming but probably for a few quid less than was going out for Percy.

My take on this is, unless we are getting in another player or two with Percy being released, is, are we really in a position to be releasing players at a time where we are running with a small squad as it is with one or two injuries and no doubt one or two players carrying knocks as well ?? I hope we don't shoot ourselves in the foot due to players departing and it leaving ourselves short.

It begs the Question, and the same was said by someone else in another thread abt Ralston Gabriel, just how much has the Club tried, in keeping Percy ? I think he was a very useful player to have in the squad. These days though, and l do appreciate this, players, even at this level, have agents, so your up against that as well

However I'd expect another player to be incoming but probably for a few quid less than was going out for Percy. Any manager overspending and relying on cup runs to make up the shortfall is foolish to say the least. Not to mention any owners who agree to such a preposterous approach. Cup run money should be seen as a bonus to be used to bolster a side later in the season when the table has unfolded and teams have a better idea of where they stand and what they need to push on, rather than 'sorry everyone, I know we're on the brink of the playoffs but it's time to get rid of a few players because we crashed out to lower league oppo earlier in the Cup than we expected. Another player incoming for less than was going out for Percy... Don't forget the cash we're saving on Gabriel too

Percy leaving feels like a loss. Not sure why he wasn't playing much of late - anyone know? When he played he always seemed combative and determined, with occasional moments of creativity. If he's not replaced effectively we'll miss him

If he's not replaced effectively we'll miss him I agree whole-heartedly Saint, with what you say there. We've got to try to keep the most solid of squads as we can, albeit a small one, if we are to achieve promotion. Losing key squad members like Percy and indeed Ralston Gabriel, isn't going to help us do that unless we get decent replacements in.

who are we saying is better than Percy in midfield (apart from Noble)? He always seems to put in a shift. The way this club is run is beyond frustrating sometimes. What a crock of shite.

Sambou is v good too. I'm just disappointed because Percy offered something extra - a bit indisciplined sometimes maybe but the positives certainly outweighed the negatives. Expect he'll continue to improve and come back to haunt us!

Disappointing to see him go. I should imagine he was irked that Sanderson was getting in the team ahead of him at times, and IA will have his reasons for that (Sanderson is more of a replacement for Noble than Percy is in style I suppose?)
Kiangebeni is only young so I guess he wants game time. Not everyone is willing to be as patient as Merson or Banton in waiting to get back into the team after being dropped. A shame because as others have said he could be a brilliant player at times, scored some great goals.

Football is a team game and sometimes you have technical great players but who may not be the best fit in your team. Its interesting that we are much more of a team since Ralston moved on. Percy, for me, has been great but also frustrating as he tries to take on one player too many or fails to make the pass - and you heard the frustration at his failure to follow instructions from the touchline. We only get to see matchday but much more goes on of course during the week at training etc. No doubt the management team had their reasons for getting agreement to end Percy's contract and will have done so for what they see as the right reasons.

The only other thing of any consequence is that we've lost one member of our playing staff but gained two coming back in contention for playing, Sam Merson and Clovis Kamdjo. That'll just leave Ben Herd and David Noble to come back. Although there is still Richard Sho Silva.

Forward James Ewington signed from Walton Casuals.
Has scored 27 goals in 30 appearances for Walton.

He’s been banging them wherever he’s played. Definitely worth a punt at this level.

Yep, likewise l agree. Well we got Ralston Gabriel from Haringey Borough, a league below us, and he did well for us until he got injured, so this fella is worth a punt, definately
