Maybe those players that are (according to Ian) out of our price range heard we like to give out 18-month contracts to players, and wanted a piece

We haven't signed many new players, but loads of important signings in keeping most of last year's squad together.
No doubt there will be a number of trialists in the friendlies and we'll sign up a few more players before the season starts. It looks like a similar approach to last year, picking up players from lower divisions or unwanted players from our level. Hopefully with a similar success rate to last season!

A lot of players in this league (NLS) have reached their ceiling in potential. Imo it's better to bring in a couple experienced players (dave deihdou) and noble and some young/ middle twenties players from the premier's or ithsmanians who are on the cheap but for quality. Ie RMW or Percy. Just a thought

Well whatever Squad it is that starts the Season, whatever the group is, the most important thing will be, to learn some lessons from last Season. Working on Set pieces has to be right up there at the top of the agenda. Well, Glen Alzapiedi has been Quoted as saying he wants to work on us defensively, so we'll see. Hopefully, as we look to have kept most of last Seasons Squad, the Players too will have learnt one or two things, they are mostly young and can improve

I hope Glen Alzapiedi can improve our goals conceded record, but as I have said before he didn't improve Concords over 2/3 seasons, they conceded on average 58 goals per season. Anyway, what concerns me is that players I would have thought we might be interested in, such as Lewis Taaffe from Concord, have signed elsewhere, in his case with Enfield. Maybe we were not interested in him, but maybe we just couldn't afford him.
I suppose Saturdays game will allow us to see what we have at our disposal.

Enfield must be splashing the cash as they've signed Billy Bricknell.

At the end of the day it does come down to budgets and what clubs can and can't afford. I'd imagine that it's just as crazy in Non-League as it is in the League, the sort of money that Players (and their agents) are asking for. Of course a new Club has got to suit a Player as well because of travelling, work locations (if they are not professional) too. It's not easy l don't think, to get Players in. Maybe it gets easier towards the start of a Season whereby there will be some Players who haven't got a Club and they want to get games

It seems by the looks of it many people are being negative for this coming season as of transfers and the collapse of last season. but we still have to build on last season's success'. In possibly 2 of the best games of the season, Dartford and e.thurrock we played the same team: Dean herd tarik Percy bender noble solly rmw monlouis merse and banton. Going into this season we have 8 of the starting 11 with noble on the verge of signing (i hope). Those performances were of title winners, and with 3 new signings a new defensive coach and experience under the belt. I think we could once again push for playoffs....

Think the RMW deal to barnet is almost definite with him spotted at the hive training today.

Does anyone know who our trialists were ?
Good to see we've tightened up the defence a bit 😉

Does anyone know who our trialists were ? Good to see we've tightened up the defence a bit 😉 Yeah l was wondering about that, having not been to the game yesterday. I know we lost 4 nil but l was wondering exactly what our Squad and Player/ trialist selections were for the game and who the trialists were. Of course it might well be immaterial in the future as to who the trialists were as they may or may not be taken on, but it'd be nice to know. I will be at Tuesday's game anyway, so they may be playing again

Well, we are hardly going to get anyone prolific now, really, l don't think. What Players and Agents ask for, money-wise, dictates that to some extent, unfortunately. Still, you never know. The main thing now though, is that we get Players in that are up to the job and the Squad is bolstered up to our required level within our budget, so we are up and running for the start of the Season. Whatever our group is too, they will hopefully be coached in the right way, so each and every one of the Players will know their jobs and as long as they work hard and listen to instructions, etc, that's all you can ask for.

He could be a useful signing for us by the sounds of it, depending on how things go. Presumably then he must be a free agent at the moment then ?

He seems to score a ratio of 1:6. So, if we do sign him we can expect 6-7 goals from him next season.
Listening to the manager, we have signed two utility players from Hendon, and DaCosta. We have lost or about to loose 6 regular squad members and Bradbury back to Watford or whatever.
Any info on the other trialists ? Where for instance is the experienced Central defender we urgently need, or the striker who can lead the line, not be bullied and retain the ball etc.?

Thought the number 15 6"4 centre back in the second half was exactly what we needed last season as he was very vocal and was willing to smash away headers (refreshing to see). And I thought IA was wanting to play only merse upfront?

riddle me this..... Lucien only offered to come down to pre season "to see how it goes" but manages to get signed by a team that finished in the play offs? Being without Lucien and RMW is going to be a huge loss. Unless anyone can see a light at the end of that particular tunnel??

Lucien was too hit and miss, he'd have a run of 5 poor games, then pop up and score.
Too Inconsistent for the money he was probably on.

I'm not sure RMW will as much of a loss people think. Towards the end of the season he was pretty much anonymous. He was brilliant up until January time but teams found him out, realising that he is incredibly one footed and lost interest quickly in games after not seeing much of the ball early on in games.

M. no point getting in someone to hold the ball up and lead the line if we play one up top and he’s only going to score 7 goals a year. Our current striker got 25+ last year.. we need someone to compliment Merson. I think Mayo could be the man, tall, quick and powerful. I think they would be a relentless front too. But would need to see a change in formation

Well it seems from his post-match interview after the Northampton game on Saturday, he's got or is going to have, a few triallists. So much so, that he's going to have to scale them down to make up a Squad of 18, so unless things change in the meantime until the start of the Season and someone else becomes available that the Club can afford, that'll be about 6 triallists taken on. On that note, apart from David Moyo who was said to have turned out on Saturday and may have turned out this evening vs Stevenage, does anyone know any of the other triallists that have turned out for us so far. I couldn't make tonites game unfortunately either, so l don't know what happened tonite
