So we have a poor defence that needs a lot of work at the end of the season, and we don't really fix it, so on day one of the next season you start again?
Those who forget the past are condemned to relive it and all that

We’ve certainly had a few Centre half pairings! I thought Tom Gardiner was OK. Jack Saville wasn’t so good.

Two of the last three goals conceded were nothing to do with the defence. A lot of the goals that we concede are down to poor defensive work by the midfield, lack of tracking back etc.

And although we stuffed it up in the end, l can't remember us ever actually looking like relegation fodder last season

Nobody can deny defensive problems are recurrent under IA. I'm an IA fan - he's improved the team and expectations, compared to the Gray and Gold situation, but he really needs to improve the defence or we'll just stay in boring mid table. Sooner rather than later preferably. Diedhiou and Knight don't seem to have the mobility - one of them plus a fast, experienced littler fella might work? I agree with Fleetvillian that Tom Gardiner probably the pick of the numerous defenders we've had.... and there were a couple of good loanees- a very young one from Charlton and the NI fella from Stevenage.

I do indeed ahad, l do indeed. It does seem to be a re-occurring theme unfortunately.

But I agree with boojiboy, defensive duties should also come from all areas of the field in there different ways, not just the defence itself doing its work, and we've seen frailties all the way through the team in that respect, sadly
