I noticed on Saturday a whole new set of parking restrictions around Clarence Park. Mainly no parking between 0800 and 1800 Monday to Friday. How is that going to help when the boxing day game is 1pm kick off on a weekday. Anyone in the know with any answers ? Or should we all just stay at home?

Boxing Day is a bank holiday, parking restrictions don't apply on bank holidays
I think

I would agree but unlike other parking signs that stipulate whether it is ok to park on a bank holiday, the new signs around the ground don't. Don't really want to take the chance !!

Victoria Street car park is free on Bank Holidays. Some others are too, but probably not the station car park.

They are now Monday-Saturday in York Road with a 2 hour time limit. Monday-Friday I can understand, to eliminate commuters parking all day long. To include Saturday is ridiculous. I think we all know where that probably emanates from.

Yeah it's a good point. If all the other roads are only restricted Monday-Friday it's hard to think of a good reason for York Road to include Saturdays other than to stop match day parking. I'm sure that most York Road residents are decent enough people, but the ones who actively oppose the football club at every opportunity are the worst type of small minded parasites. The football clubs been there far longer than they have and find it hard to believe it impacts on their lives in any meaningful way. The kind of people that want all the benefits of living in a thriving, prosperous community, but aren't willing to put anything back in. Rant over. We should definitely petition the council to get Saturdays exempt from parking restrictions.

How ridiculous... presumably they'll be banning cars between the hours of 7.45 and 9.30 on Tuesday nights next
Would be good if the owners got in touch with the council and had words about this. Wonder if the Herts Ad are aware

Maybe someone could submit another Freedom of Information request to find out why the restrictions have been put in place

How long's a football match 90 minutes plus 15 minutes for half time plus 2 minutes first half injury time plus 3 minutes second half injury time. So 110 minutes. Five minutes to get from your car through the turnstiles to the terrace, and five minutes the other way. So if the first car parks as far up York road as possible, as close to the turnstiles as possible, you could probably get about four more cars in before you go beyond the five minute window. Did the club explore the idea of cheap parking at the station? Does the club ever explore anything?

Yeah two hours is definitely a bit tight. There tends to be a decent queue at the York road turnstiles, so would be tricky to get in before ko and not have to leave before full-time. Any long stoppages for injuries would make it impossible. On top of that many people like to get there early and catch up with friends, grab a drink or whatever. It's not the end of the world, people can park a bit further away, but just another example of the council doing less than nothing for the club.

the club info states (ref the hemel game) that there are parking restrictions around the ground. Would have been helpful if they had bothered to do some looking on the world wide wait to find some meaningful info. This is from St Albans District Council web page...……………. Parking Services Christmas Enforcement in Residential Areas To help residents and their visitors over the Festive Period, there will be no requirement to display visitors parking permits in residential parking schemes on 25th and 26th December 2018 and on 1st January 2019. All yellow lines within the residential schemes will be enforced as normal to ensure road safety and traffic flow is maintained.
To report a vehicle parked in contravention please call 01727 845 283 or email vehiclesincontravention@nsl.co.uk For permit enquirers please email Stalbansparking@nsl.co.uk

How long is a piece of string? ............................Anyone seen a traffic warden standing in York road @ 5 o'clock yet ? I’m pretty sure that the new restrictions only came into force just prior to the Wealdstone game. You can bet that there will soon be wardens nosing around in York Road towards the end of Saturday games, if they think there are easy pickings to be had.
