FT Hungerford Town (3) 5 Saints (0)
A flattering scoreline for us. It could easily have been 7 or 8. The worst game of the season, bar none. Only 4 or 5 of our players could honestly say that they came out of this game with any semblance of respectability.

didn't go to the game but it looks like it was a crock of shite. Is the defence coach back from summer hols yet? Looks very lack lustre.

It was poor, we were bullied, they were able to get it wide, they were bombing it in the box from the wide areas, moving the ball in from wide areas, they were shooting on sight, whether it be against bodies, at goal, whatever. The pitch probably suited them better and the referee was making some very dubious decisions. All that said, apart from a bright opening and a bit of a bright start to the 2nd half, we were poor and it simply has to get better than this, we have to improve on this.

Have to say that was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen from Saints. Travelled from Wales and there was only one team that deserved to win. Our defending was poor. We went second to the ball and never looked like scoring.

And l agree, it could have been 6 or 7 nil. This is our nemesis again, playing so called "struggling" sides in our League and getting beaten. Remember Whitehawk, Poole Town and indeed Hungerford themselves in previous Seasons

....... they were able to get it wide, they were bombing it in the box from the wide areas, moving the ball in from wide areas, they were shooting on sight....... Maybe it might be an idea for us to try shooting on site, instead of continually trying to walk it in. Blindingly obvious but if you don't shoot, how are you supposed to score?

David Noble is a miss for us in midfield, being out injured still, another option. Moyo was a miss, being on the bench, and of course we missed having the option of Sam. But the players playing instead, should have been good enough to get the job done but failed to

Best part about today was the players going over to apologise to the fans at full time.
I just can’t understand how we go from two battling, hard fought performances against Hampton and Watford to the one we saw today.

It was good of the Players to do that, to recognise that that was just not good enough. Well, without meaning to state the obvious, we've got to get this one out of our system now and move on. It's gone now, and hopefully we'll see a reaction. The Players should be hurting after a 5 nil defeat, so we all need to see a reaction from them now.

Well IA doesn't, or at least in his post match interview, said he doesn't want that to be an excuse. Ah, who knows, it would have took a bit out of them on Wednesday and the pitch today would've took a bit out of them as well as it looked soft and muddy, but we didn't have a game last Saturday before the Watford game, so who knows ?

IA post match interview :- ‘We have to be prepared to battle’ - something sadly lacking today, especially in midfield and up front.

It's not a excuse but the general assumption this week seems to have been that the game would be called off. I assuming the players thought this as well until Saturday morning. I wonder if this effected the performance- mentally we just were not prepared

We're always blasé against teams in the bottom 4. Just look at last season's results against them... or the season before that...

Having no centre forward was a major problem, no one to hold the ball up, it just came back at us over and over again and we couldn't cope. Showed what a good job Moyo does for us.
Can't take anything away from Hungerford though - they were excellent.

if Hungerford are a pub side, as somebody said on this forum what does that make us? be careful what you say on here as it might comeback and bite you on the backside!

It certainly showed yesterday, not having David Moyo or Sam Merson, just as much as it showed, not having the experience of David Noble in midfield. We just got bullied and harassed through the middle and the way Hungerford were getting the ball right into the danger area from corners and crosses and their shoot on sight tactics, they fully deserved their win. I was impressed with Liam Sole though, he showed in patches what he can do. I heard he was good vs Watford but l wasn't there to see him that night, l only saw him come on very late on vs Hampton, so yesterday was the first time l have seen him properly. He's Quite nippy and skilful. But l think we need the 2 David's and Sam back fast
