If my ageing eyes have not let me down they hit the post twice at 2-2. I thought we were a bit fortunate to be 2-0 up at half time but actually thought we played well for a prolonged period of the second half when 2-0 ahead. As soon as they scored we completely fell apart. While it did always work earlier in Noble tenure I understood how he wanted us to play. Today we played a fair bit of hoof-ball. It almost seemed that players knew they were good enough to play out from the back so when more direct. The problem is even direct football requires a certain plan/set up- forward players who know the channels they will be competing in etc and are prepared for this type of game. If the teams set up to play a short passing game and you resort to hoofing it it just not going to work. I not sure Noble actually has a plan anymore. You can argue if results last season mean Noble deserves a few more games or not but his future is clearly under question. The owners need to start feeling out potential replacements now so we don't sack Noble at end of the month and end up with the kitman in charge. Some people have made the valid point that some of the rise in attendance is due to kids (who do not pay to get in), so revenue has not increased in line with attendances. I get that argument but would make the point that the average food/drink spend per head has clearly gone up massively. So even if proportion of kids has increased revenue per head may have remained stable. We regularly getting 1500 now but the team are no better (maybe worse) than when we were getting 600-700. Congratulations to the owners on increasing attendances and the club commercial profile but there has to be balance between using increased revenues to reduce operating losses/ invest in commercial side and improve the product on the pitch . 50/50 seems reasonable, 100/0 seems more like the current model. If getting 1500 regularly we need a top 7 budget. Hemel get half our crowds but, like it or not, are 2 points better off than us with a game in hand. Yes that is why so many fans are frustrated. The additional revenue has not gone into the playing squad. I just hope we can avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle.

Well, that was a crock. Before the 3rd goal went in the guy next to me says ‘if this was a boxing match we would be at the 8 count’. ‘More like on oxygen says I’. That was possibly the worst 2 nil squandered ever. This squad wouldn’t get promotion from the Ryman. The playing it from keeper to defender and tippy tapping the ball along the back line constantly is b0ll0x. Only we can be approaching the opposition’s 18 yard box and then 5 seconds later we are passing the ball back to our defence and the keeper. Awful.

The additional revenue from all the Cup runs didn't go back into the playing squad either so it isn't surprising

I imagine our playing budget is lower midtable.
This is where I expect us to finish.

You guys go the matches, I can't, but I find it hard to get my head round the various opinions. Jeffers has started two games - hurrah - which we've lost - boo. We have had good runs earlier in the season e.g. September, when we hardly conceded a goal, but now that's 7 in two games - actually in just two halves. Is that down to the manager or the players on the pitch? Or injuries? Or wages? If we're going to sack Noble, what about the dozens of other teams across the divisions who have a worse record than us? My local team is Tranmere Rovers, 3rd bottom of League Two and not picked up a point away from home all season. The manager has just signed a new THREE year contract. It's frustrating enough following the game on X (the app previously known as Twitter) without being there in the flesh to see it all fall apart before your eyes, but for me it's too early to think about replacing the manager.

I don't see us replacing Noble this season. As other posters have commented, he is our cheapest option. The owners are happy to tread water in the Conference South, and that is their prerogative. With lots of new fans having little interest in the football, it makes commercial sense for the direction chosen by the owners.

That exactly why crowds will fall, complete lack of success on the pitch. Like you say just treading water, until we get a puncture and sink.

Why has Blackman lost the captaincy to the consistently average Bowry?

Incorrect Dulwich are 16th in the Ryman Premier and this season: 3-2 defeat to Margate: 3334 attendance 2-0 defeat to Lewes: 2745 attendance 2-0 win vs Concord: 2588 attendance If the product off the field is working, performances on the pitch are irrelevant.

Why do people go to dulwich? It can't be for the football? Crowds are still big the results are pants, it must be some sort of mass social gathering where the football and results are immaterial. Very weird.

Very weird. It is a relatively cheap day out for a family. Good opportunity to catch up with friends and have a few beers. I have noticed at a lot of our home games, you have a fair few fans who are barely watching the game.
