Not too sure taht those of us you may refer too are 'ficle'. Pragmatic, say it as it is maybe. However, 3 points clean sheet , tried to play football but did give it away too often and as Dave T says in report Cambs had 7 shots at our goal before our first. No matter tho as we have the points but Cambs were a shadow of the team that played us off the park and a 3 goal diff maybe flattered us especially as I and most around me thought that Nick Jupp was our MOTM! Simons 1st was a superb effort and the 3rd was nt too shabby. More needed against Chesham i feel. The Xmas and New Year period will be very telling. And has Mr Howell adopted a more 'accepting' attitude? Need to keep a settled side now and see if we can move on.

Reading the post-match comments about their team's performance on the Cambridge fans' forum, I was struck by the similarity of the complaints that are aired on here when things go wrong for City - hoofball, immobile defence and an unsettled squad of ageing players. This from a club that expects a top-five finish. Perhaps this is how it is in this league. Hi Northampton. That's what is known as "fickle fan syndrome" Every club has this complaint i'm afraid. Chants of "Howell out" when we are losing or playing badly and "The greatest team ever" when we are on a good run. Even Alex Ferguson had this trouble when he first managed Manchester United. Now you'd be hard pressed to find those fans today. Lets hope this is the start of a decent run of results and not a false dawn. Fickle Fan Syndrome? I don't think so, Brummie. davymac55 has it spot on - pragmatic is the proper term to describe it. When diehard supporters come on here and air their views after spending both their time and hard earned going to the likes of Banbury, Swindon Supermarine, Oxford City, Bashley, Chippenham et al (as well watching the fiasco against Barwell) I would say they have every right to criticise constructively, after witnessing such wretched performances. That is not being fickle; it is telling it like it is, warts and all and there is nothing wrong with it. In the same vein, it is only right to praise when the performance is good, as it was on Saturday against Cambridge City. Hitchin was an improvement but Cambridge City was a lot better. For the first time this season, we are now playing as a team, not as 11 individuals and we are now, for the most part, playing it on the ground. There is no doubt in my mind that the catalyst is Micah Hyde, who is not only able to help protect the back four but also put his foot on the ball and dictate play, which, in turn is helping to bring out the best in David Ijaha, who had his best game of the season by far on Saturday. A word too about Nick Jupp, who was superb. We have Chesham United at home on Boxing Day, which will be very tough but if we play as we have played in the last 2 games, there is no reason for us not to come away with the 3 points. COYS

What i meant by Fickle fan syndromne was a generalisation.
Every club has one or two fans who would do as I said in my original post but the majority are, as you say, pragmatic. They DO tell it as it is.
I think that the squad are now starting to gel together and, starting with 3 points against Chesham United, we could go on a decent run lifting us up the table.
