An exciting game, but overall, apart from a couple of nice moves, some poor football - two teams that are struggling and it showed.

Great win today and hopefully it will kick start our season.
I didn't think we played too badly and when we had the ball on the ground, passed it around nicely, there just wasn't enough movement in the final third. However overall we deserved the win and definitely some very promising signs going forward.

Personally I thought we were lucky today and Weston looked a decent side who were obviously devastated at the final whistle. I am hoping for Portsmouth or Sheff Utd away to get some funds cos that is all we can hope for in this competition. If they are the 2nd worst team in the conference south then I fear for our league position. The return of Sam C bought some much needed passing to a player in the same coloured shirt to the side but I have to say again. WTF does Scott Thomas bring to the team?? I could put on my old boots and stand around and pose in front of our back four. Their goal came from their number 4 picking the ball up from their centre backs, walking past our player, driving forward and then playing a decisive ball which caused total confusion between our Joe and Lockey. That is what a decent holding midfielder does!!!! I love the Saints but I am not happy with the way we r playing. Ben Nunn looked a decent player but what has JK done wrong? we need more presence in centre mid and up front otherwise we r in trouble

Quite surprised by the reaction to today's performance if I'm honest. Having been away and seen results like the Whitehawk drubbing, I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. Granted we weren't perfect and WSM are far from world beaters, but I thought we looked lively, had spells of decent football and created a fair amount of chances. Got a very important win too - we have a pretty poor recent record when it comes to winning high-pressure games with bigger crowds, so that's very pleasing in itself. Ben Nunn does look a good player and judging by today's performance is a marked improvement upon the hapless defensive displays I've seen from JK over the last season or so. Kevin Krans is also an asset in my view - very lively, confident and doesn't shy away when things aren't going his way. The side looks a lot more balanced than it did when I last saw it, thanks in no small part to the addition of Montgomery on that left side. James Comley again showed what an able centre-half he is. Very pleased with today, well worth a trip home for. COYS!

WTF does Scott Thomas bring to the team?? Couldn't agree more. He's supposed to be a defensive midfielder who can't defend. Amazing as well that we paid Borehamwood a fee for him. Still not the first time that Wood have charged us a fee for a player who wasn't up to the league.

Surprised as well that no one has mentioned the smoke bombs thrown onto the pitch after the first goal. If it was Hemel they would be condemned straight away. Will have to see what action is taken by the FA if reported by the referee.

I too am disappointed by some of the comments offered. What is there to be so negative about. So far as results go, we have been on a poor run. What I saw today was a good cup tie which I believe we deserved to win, with everyone putting in a decent shift. We need to remember that funds are not unlimited and the managers have to do the best with the players that can be afforded. Nunn looks a good addition to the squad and tightened up the defence noticeably. Midfield looked so much more comfortable, and won and used the ball much more effectively. I thought we passed the ball about pretty well and scored two good goals in a game where we generally had a good 60 per cent of possession. £12500 in the kitty today plus a good gate, and an outside chance of a lucrative first round tie. Isn't that more than we expected a few weeks back? Come on, let's get behind them. Well done Saints. Just one negative comment- what on earth are we paying these stewards for? The idiot who threw the flare could cost the club dearly and should have been picked out and thrown out promptly. The steward behind the goal couldn't even be bothered to look for him.

As for Kevin Krans, I thought he had an excellent game today but, if we are to get the best from him, he has to play wide right. He has blistering pace and it needs to be used in the right way. His talents are not suited to playing centre mid. For the next round, I see two scenarios. We want to be looking at - 1) playing either the likes of Didcot, Staines or similar home or away but preferably at home or 2) drawing one of the bigger Div 1/Div 2 clubs and definitely at home. If we were lucky enough to get Sheffield United, Coventry or Portsmouth, there would be every chance of the game being televised and the financial benefits would be enormous, notwithstanding a 4,000 plus crowd. If we drew any of these away, the crowd might be reasonable (but not great) and the chances of it being televised slim indeed. COYS!

I really enjoyed the game and thought we played well. Why the ball wouldn't go into their net when we were battering at it in the first half, I dont know. Law of averages should have seen one or two go in! At this level, I couldn't have wanted better for an FA Cup tie.
Only negative was the flare throwing - what did the idiot want to achieve with that? I just hope it doesn't cost us.
Onward and upward - lets get Millwall and beat them! hahahaha

I thought Crawford did well when he came on and caused their defence some problems - unlucky not to get a goal (and unlucky last weekend not to see his clever chip go in - although he did also played a part in creating Maidstone's goal). Not sure if he is the right partner for Theo but I'd like to see him given more opportunities.

Another thing to add is that I thought the officials had a good game and was a welcome surprise compared to the usual standard we have witnessed (although the added time at the end was a bit excessive).

Not a fantastic game but that was to be expected in the circumstances with the teams positions and what was at stake, we had plenty of shots on target although a couple that should really of been goals were straight at the keeper or post lol
Happy enough with the result and let's see if we can get a money spinner for a change !

A childish episode and an extremely dangerous one. Perhaps the perpetrator might like to settle the fine personally on behalf of the Club, should it occur. Now waiting for the 'Oh but we were only having a bit of fun.........' and ' Well, the Club can take out if their prize money..........' hackneyed old cliches. The answer to the latter is ' Why the f... should they? Grow up and pay up and stop wrecking it for everyone else at the game.

Totally agree, we don't want any Stone Island idiots attaching themselves to the Saints.
