The trouble these days with getting players in, and especially this time of the year when most players are now fixed up with Clubs, is agents. It seems, even at this level, players have agents, and it's getting deals done with them. Their on the lookout, not only for the players they represent, but them themselves, for the best deals they can get, and half the time you can bet that the agents will hang on to their players as long as they can, and l bet silly money is asked for in this league

Getting loans in or free transfers may be our best bet, but it's always going to be "one in, one out" for us at the mo.

It's the same for every side in the league. This doesn't make a difference to us needing to get players in. Also if anything it makes players easier to sign because agents make money every time they move.
The main problem is we had the whole off-season to get players in, and some of the ones we did get in are nowhere near as good as some of the ones we lost.
Time to spin the loan wheel maybe and see who we end up with?

Ben did want to re-sign and even as recently as last week, when chatting to someone I know in a local supermarket, he still harbored hopes of coming back but he didn't accept the reengagement terms by the deadline so we signed someone else, can't really blame IA for that
Probably the kind of player we may have been able to get via 'boost the budget' but most people have stopped their contributions to that now

As it is, he will be now at Sutton.

? I think EFMTFTV is talking about 'Boost the Budget', not the playing budget. As far as I was aware, 'Boost the Budget' is/was looked after by Stand by your Saints.

Ahad43, l don't know exactly how many players at our level or below, have agents, but personally l still feel it can make it harder. I'm not a fan of agents in the game anyway, even if it is the norm and even if it is the norm in non-league football too, as l see it as money going out of the game and agents will sure as hell make sure they get their cut. Oh for the days years ago when a Player was able to negotiate his own contract, it was much simpler then

Presumably agents get a cut or bonus or whatever every time a player moves so it's in agents' interests to shop their players around. And again, the costs and difficulty and whatever else are just the same for us as they are for every other club in the league.

I'm talking about the 're engagement terms that were offered to Ben Wyatt by the club (whether they were the same or lower ?) not the boost the budget scheme which it looks like the club have lost money from as well as revenue at the ground now

RMW has been released. So is this a budget cut or is it one out, one in?

Perhaps RMW was the highest paid of those not doing enough? I wouldn't have thought he'd be at the front of the queue for release.... near the front maybe, as it hasn't looked as though his heart was in it. Given what IA has been saying about new recruits being needed this must surely be to make space? Otherwise the Doomsayers are right about relegation and the owners reducing their interest/ongoing investment. I don't see that appointing IA as commercial manager to explore full time possibilities makes that likely.

Well, this had better be good. Until l see what Georgiou is like, l will reserve judgement. Is this a like-for-like swap, is that what its meant to be squad wise ? He has to be better than RMW if it is and for it to be a success, but personally, if ever there was meant to be a "first one out the door" it should've been Bawling. How he is still playing for us after his poor displays is a mystery to me

meanwhile Sambou is banging them in for Biggleswade and Sean Lucien continues to show defenders a clean pair of heels (as per recent match report) with Matt Ball dominating midfield. Oh for days of yore when we used to win games.
