They have a good chance of meeting today's opponents, Ebbsfleet, in the National League South next season. Hopefully, after today's result, we will playing them at least twice next year ourselves.

Bloody hell, they are having a good run in the trophy, aren't they ? Fair play to them, Steve Castle is doing a wonderful job there just goes to show sacking the manager isn't always the answer

Yeah, he looked good. Unfortunately our chances of getting him permanently, are zilch, cos if he doesn't make it at Watford, he'll want to make it somewhere professionally. Still, if he helps to keep us up this season, that'll do nicely

Does anyone know why we played a new keeper last night? I thought Bonfield was our back-up keeper. Please don’t tell me Snedker has left or is leaving ......

Would have gladly swapped a win last night for three points on Saturday, but nevertheless it was an excellent result against decent opposition. Did Josh Oyansin feature for Royston last night? I believe he came on as a sub for them at Ebbsfleet, having recently cut short his very brief stay at Braintree. Ware or Kings Langley would both be tricky opponents in the semi-final. Ware, although two steps down in the league rankings, are having a good season at their level, whilst Kings Langley are mid-table in the Southern League central division, five or six places below Royston. We may prefer to finally meet Stevenage since they will almost certainly field a side entirely comprised of academy youngsters. Furthermore, Stevenage may not be too keen on staging the game at Broadhall Way and may be happy to play the game at Clarence Park.

Crowds are always awful for county cup competitions, so doubt it would have made much difference. I'd imagine pretty much everyone that went was a season ticket holder, so would have only paid a fiver anyway.

I think Royston have a wealthy chairman and he finances the club. they wouldn't do it on their small gayes.

I think Royston have a wealthy chairman and he finances the club. they wouldn't do it on their small gayes. Even if Royston have a wealthy chairman, they may find it hard if they get promoted. No doubt they'd have to strengthen, and their players will be wanting more money for playing at a higher level and is their ground good enough for step 2 ? On top of that, they could get lumbered into National League North, so lots to consider there

My recollection of Royston's ground at Garden Walk is of a facility with the most basic of amenities for spectators. Unless the ground has been massively upgraded in the intervening years, I can't see any chance for them to obtain the necessary ground grading to enable the club to compete at National South (or North) level. In their Spartan League days, when their gates were well under a hundred per game, they had a highly ambitious long-term plan to move into a new ground near the Baldock to Royston road and to eventually push one day for Conference proper status. That ground has never materialised, I believe because the intended site failed to meet local authority requirements, although I stand to be corrected on that. Anyway, if they do find themselves in a position to seek promotion to our level, I'm not sure that league rules would allow Royston to groundshare, and so they would be forced to upgrade on a scale which would be unrealistic in the short-term. It would appear that success on the pitch has definitely outstripped progress off of it.

After much speculation throughout the day today, the match at Kings Langley tonight ihas now been declared as definitely being ON.
Kings Langley are unbeaten in 12 so don’t let anyone think this is going to be easy, because it most definitely won’t be.
COYS!
