First departure from the club is Sam Merson who is leaving after 4 years.

A pity, Sam’s been a good servant to the Club. I know last season was his least impressive, but I’m sorry to see him go and I wish him all the best for the future. I suspect with all the uncertainty about next season it’ll be a much changed squad when we eventually start playing again.
Stay safe, everyone.

I agree Saint, he certainly has been a good servant to the Club. I think it'll be hard for IA to plan for next season, not knowing when, even if, possibly, next season will start.

Agreed, lagerman. I can’t see many clubs singing players on a year’s contract when it’s possible that serious non-league football may not resume until August 2021. None of us can play behind closed doors. I suspect contracts may be offered and agreed in principle, but not signed until there’s a derfinite re-starting date, after which there’s going to be an almighty scramble for signatures. If that happens then the richer clubs will be at even more of an advantage than usual. And that ain’t us!

That’s interesting. I thought most of our squad were on a contract, but if not I guess that makes things a little easier.

Sad to see Sam go but it's understandable given the current situation. All the best for the future!

there aren't many players worth keeping, if and when we are able to restart!

I think the only thing IA can do is initially just to try to provisionally build a squad for next season, same as he would normally do, except of course, normally we'd know exactly when and what we were planning for. I think that's all he can do really, l don't think it'd need explaining to any players, everybody knows the situation we are in, but of course there would have to be Club v Player discussion on that As far as any contracts go, l couldn't comment on that, it's hard to see how clubs at this level can start handing out contracts with no supporters coming through the turnstiles and no revenue coming in.
It's the old chicken and the egg scenario at the moment, isn't it, in as far as what season ticket money would bring in ? That which would provide clubs with some much needed up front cash, but they can't really be sold by clubs yet, at this level anyway, without clubs knowing for sure that we will actually have a next season

If he has been furloughed, he can't do anything.

I cant see Iaciofano staying, considering league 2 or NL clubs will be on a tight budget, him being decent and basically free would probably mean he won’t stay, but fair play imo

I'm surprised he stayed this long the way he was used, good luck Sam all the best

Good news, if somewhat unexpected. I wasn't anticipating any signings until there was a bit more information about when next season might start.

That's good news indeed, let's hope we build a better squad for next season (when ever that'll be) than last season. There is probably a core of last seasons squad that could be the backbone of the new squad with some decent additions, but it's going to be hard for Ian to be able to do it, as it is any manager, not knowing when next season will start.

The Squad continues to be built up, it remains to be seen of course if all the players gel together, those already signed or re-signed plus further signings and re-signings, for whenever next season is

I really like the look of Wiltshire, he’s got great pedigree for this league

To win or be successful in a league, and this might be obvious, but you need players like Jordan Parkes, Adam Marriott, Tom Davis, John Frendo... players who have been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. Sounds like Wiltshire might be one of those, fingers crossed

Definitely him. Hope he's learned from his mistakes !! The trouble is, lads like him are young men first and foremost, and footballers second. Nothing will ever change that, its culture, they'll always be young men first and footballers second. In the past, albeit you could say it was a long time in the past, such was their good behaviour, they'd be footballers first with no distractions
