Lewis Gordon and Frankie Musonda find themselves in a position which will become common for many young would-be EFL pros in the current economic climate. Yes, we would definitely be unable to offer either player a suitable full-time contract. The best we can hope for I feel is that should they struggle to find clubs willing and able to meet their likely terms, then they might well consider continuing to play for us on a game-by-game or even on a month-by-month basis. They would be maintaining fitness levels whilst showcasing their talents to prospective employers.

Michael Johnson was at Braintree, I believe. Shaun Jeffers was at Chelmsford City.

Shaun Jeffers, aged 28, had brief spells with several EFL clubs, including Cambridge Utd, Yeovil, Peterborough and Newport County. He played at Newport during that club's second season back in the league, without fully establishing himself in the side. He then dropped into the non-league scene and has appeared on loan for a variety of clubs, including Tamworth, Brackley, Woking and Hampton. Two years ago he spent a whole season at Boreham Wood, making 26 National League appearances and scoring 2 goals. The previous season he had spent at Chelmsford (39 apps, 21 goals). He returned to Melbourne Park last summer and scored a further 14 goals for the clarets in 32 league games. He was reckoned to be one of Chelmsford's higher wage-earners and the club were also concerned about the cost of funding the player's travel from his home in Milton Keynes. It was also rumoured that after Rob Stringer left the club back in January, the playing budget was to be cut by around 20 per cent for the upcoming season. Figures suggested on the Chelmsford City forum indicated a reduction in the weekly budget from 10,000 to 8,000 pounds, and so the new manager, Robbie Simpson, an intelligent, articulate and very likeable guy, has been forced to reassess his financial options based on the present constraints.

Sam merson was very disappointing last season, nothing like the player we originally signed.

I can fully understand Sam Merson's need to make a fresh start in the hope that he gets more game time with his new club, whoever that may be. It's very likely I suppose that he will sign for another club in our league. If so, the club in question has managed to keep their interest very quiet so far. I just hope that he does not become yet another player tempted by the money offered at Romford.

Sam merson was very disappointing last season, nothing like the player we originally signed. In the times I've seen Sam, for example in the Clubhouse after games, he's sometimes not looked that happy, but over the years he'll have had his dads problems on his mind, and l think, along with loss of form, injuries, not always being picked by Allinson, that's all something that has affected him. But that said, he has been a good Club servant to us and I'm sure we wish him well wherever he goes

www.hertsad.co.uk/sport/st-albans-city/ian-allinson-on-st-albans-city-squad-places-1-6765156Joe Iaciofano, Munashe Sundire and David Longe-King have so far not signed a new deal with all three expressing an interest to try their hand in the National League or higher. Both Iaciofano, who was named the joint winner of the National League South golden boot last year, and Sundire are still training with the Saints but Allinson says the balls are all in the players’ court.

Well, we can only do what we can do to hang on to those three, at the end of the day if they want to play at a higher level then that is up to them and they might get their wish. I'd imagine IA will now give it x amount of time before going for replacements, l don't think he'll wait too long thou

I can't even remember who Munashe Sundire was so he hasn't got much chance and David LK spent a lot of the season dropped from one of the worst defences in the division didn't he? Wouldn't begrudge Joe a more to a higher level though

Sundire was signed from Hemel.

Living abroad as I do and not having seen Munash Sundire play live, I am limited to what the player or his agent have compiled in advertising his skills and strengths via the player's Twitter account video. Obviously, as a means of portraying Munash in the best possible light for prospective interestd National League clubs, the video must be treated with a certain degree of mistrust, as it makes him look like a non-league version of Lionel Messi. Even allowing for the blatantly favourable editing, it is quite clear that Munash Sundire is a very talented individual who may well be able to step up a division successfully. However, the National League is full of teams with bloated squads of 25+ players, at least half of whom ultimately fail to make a significant lasting impression at that level. I would be surprised if at least one National League club did not make a contract offer for Joe Iaciofano. His record last season in a predominantly struggling side suggests that he could well be worth a modest punt by a National League club:albeit maybe one with more modest funds. We certainly shouldn't disrespect the player's wish to further his career by looking to play at a higher level. As for David Longe-King, I am not convinced that a bigger club will currently be willing to gamble on him making the grade. With the present budgetry restrictions likely to impact most clubs, together with the fact that David's essentially regarded as a centre back, he may find it advisable to spend a bit more time in the shop window at Clarence Park in order to attract future admirers.

I see Havant have also signed Godfrey Poku from Woking. Clearly a statement of intent with these two signings.

Plus they have also captured Tommy Wright from Sutton United, their manager's old club. Interestingly, Paul Dodswell said in a recent interview that Havant were looking to place more emphasis on recruiting young, hungry players for the forthcoming campaign and that the club's playing budget had been significantly reduced. Of course they have just started laying their new plastic pitch which will need substantial funding. With Danny Kedwell gone and Josh Ayunga sold to Bristol Rovers, Joe Iaciofano has every chance of becoming a regular starter over there.

Well, this sort of thing is always going to happen around us, arguably bigger Clubs than us with better resources and more money and arguably bigger budgets, getting decent players in. Good luck to Joe, l wish him well, except against us of course

Good luck to Joe, l wish him well, except against us of course They just lost Jonah Ayunga to Bristol Rovers so presumably have used some of that fee and freed up wages to replace him with Joe. According to BBC Sport Ayunga got 18 league goals last season whilst Joe got 17, so it's a like for like replacement in some ways. Joe was never going to stay considering we signed Shaun Jeffers, Chid Onokwai and Joseph Chidyausiku in June and July.

Maybe we can refer to Michael Dara Dada as just 'Dada' as it has a very Brazilian ring to it. He's a 21 year old from Barking FC who apparently also played for both Chalfont and Staines. In a combined total of 32 appearances for the latter two clubs, he scored six goals from midfield.

Does anyone know the situation with Devante Stanley, who it was earlier discussed in this thread as having allegedly involved in some unsavoury business ? Is he still with us ?
