I’m actually baffled as to anyone apart from the designer themselves can think this looks good. The fact that someone has to explain that it’s a Roman Shield and the Cathedral tells you all you need to know. Don’t fix what ain’t broke. Did you understand the old badge?

Absolutely bl**dy awful. It has nothing to do with the local community or the history of the club.
As an aside. Can anybody else remember when city played in all yellow. It was in fact replica Leeds Utd kit right down to the smiley face badge.

Now I realise it's a Roman shield it's quite a decent idea but it's not been terribly well realised because it does, unfortunately, look like a first generation iPhone screen. The cathedral is also a nice idea but it's not immediately obvious what it is and the reflection effect doesn't really work. But my biggest grumble is that the text is badly set. St Albans City Football Club is too long to go all the way round. The eye is drawn to the top middle where it reads CITY FOOT. Would have been better with ST ALBANS CITY round the top of the circle and FOOTBALL CLUB at the bottom; perhaps with the 19 and 08 on opposite sides of the circle at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. The fact it looks like so many round, recently-designed badges does make it feel rather generic. The 19 and 08 suggestion would've been the same as 6 of the 9 badges shown earlier in this thread... And at least 2 of the remaining 3 don't have a long enough history to warrant showing the year on!

I like it. Looks smart. Anyone know how long the old badge was used for? Club crest since 1990s so those suggesting it's been since 1908 are wrong

Did you understand the old badge? Yes thanks, as do the majority of fans who also weren’t consulted about this change 👍 So you knew that was an Abbot and a Printer on the badge without googling or being told? Impressive. And you've carried out your own survey of the fans as well. Good job.

And you've carried out your own survey of the fans as well. Good job. 11 fans said keep the current badge whilst 1 said time for a new one. 15 fans said they don't like the new design, 6 fans said they do. It's a small sample but it is individual Saints fans (regular posters or irregular) rather than Enter Shikari fans and ski chalets. You don't have to blindly defend everything the club do you know.

I'm not a fan of the badge, but I won't bother saying any more than that because it is what it is. But speaking of social media, and building on what an earlier poster mentioned, 10 'likes' on twitter for the new crest were:
1. Oomph Creative - a 'Brand Building' and 'Content Creation' company 2. Ben Killner - the Creative Partner of Oomph Creative and designer of the badge 3. The Coach House - the office building where Oomph Creative and therefore Ben Killner's office is located 4. Crabtree - a 'Business Strategy' company without a proper website that shares the same mobile phone number as Ben Killner, the Creative Partner of Oomph Creative at The Coach House and designer of the badge 5. Skills for Business - a 'Business Coaching' company with an expired website who seem to follow and retweet all of the above 6. City Youth East Blue - the account of the team coached by Ben Killner, the Creative Partner of Oomph Creative at The Coach House and boss of Crabtree and designer of the badge 7. Finishing Touch Sports Ltd - a company with a similarly designed badge that a member of the Killner family works for 8. Kay Killner - a member of the Killner family, possible the mother of Ben Killner, the Creative Partner of Oomph Creative at The Coach House, boss of Crabtree and coach of City Youth East Blue, and designer of the badge 9. Tony Colbourne - the new Head of Communications at the club who has never tweeted himself (his account is a month or so old) but one of his four followers is Oomph Creative, of The Coach House, where Ben Killner, boss of Crabtree, coach of City Youth East Blue, and designer of the badge, works
And that ski chalet, with its own website and Twitter account, owned by the Killner family.
Ten likes. Well done the club for blocking a couple of fans who weren't happy about the ticket price rises. Looks like you've more than made up for it now.

And the club have been on another mass blocking session, including myself, blocked from the twitter account, and by the looks of things some supporters who just seemed to comment that they didn't like it, not the usual '£18 is to much' troublemakers I don't actually care if some people like it or not but judging by the comments here and on twitter and facebook it's unpopular beyond belief, my issue once again is the side stepping of supporters and the lies and propaganda coming from the club, consulted supporters? Bollox i'm afraid If you were to look at a group of supporters to consult with, I can think of 3, firstly the ST holders, well the club has kept their money from last season and haven't even had the courtesy to ask them what they'd like done with it so no consultation with them. The next 2 are our 2 supporters groups - SBYS, who weren't consulted, so finally we have the TRUST, can anyone from the TRUST confirm if they were? If not, then the only supporters consulted must have been the usual merry band of yes men circling around the club Be interesting to see if this damages the crowds once again, I bumped into another life longer supporter in the pub last night, he said he only went last season because of his Dad and was a ST holder, disagreed with the price rise but sucked it up (and the ST meant he got some value), he said he is going to have a conversation with his Dad about going elsewhere next season. His son was also a ST holder, that's one family, 3 generations, taking their support somewhere else next season

Why was it felt necessary too change the badge? That hasn’t been explained at all. Is it anything to do with making a graphic designer’s life easier?
I was once involved in changing a county’s crest and the consultations with stakeholders went on for six months. How much consultation was there in City’s crest-change and with whom? It would be interesting to see what other designs were offered and why they were rejected.
The old badge could work for another 100 years. I’m not sure how long the new design will last before it is ditched for the latest trend in graphic design.Where Is the continuity in that? Down the plug hole, that’s where.

Are the club going to change the crest when Community Partner Watford under-23s have their 50th anniversary? We didn't change the crest for the club's 100th anniversary but I bet even John Gibson would've had a consultation with all fans and season ticket holders had the idea been put forward.

By 2008 I don’t think we had the old badge on our shirts for that long. I’m sure someone will correct me, but I think it began in the 90’s? I don’t think the classic Roy of the Rovers striped shirt had it.

As usual there is no mention of the correction anywhere. Unusually the correction is just as inaccurate as the initial error. The saltire cross was last seen during the early 1990's? Absolute rubbish.

There were times 30+ years ago when we didn't have a badge on the shirt so it doesn't matter that our current badge, the Crest of the City, seen on a Saints shirt as long ago as 1926, has been replaced by some generic clip art MS Paint job with almost zero consultation with season ticket holders, fans, and official supporters' groups? Is that what you're saying?

It's not you being thick, albanian. The club realised they were 'factuakky inaccurate' when they said we last had a circular crest in the early 90's so changed the text to something equally as inaccurate. Which sums it all up really.
