At least he's met his ambition at the club, by meeting Jurgen Klopp.

Is it worth listening to? Is is just another 'love in' or is he being challenged with some difficult questions regarding the last two seasons

8 years of virtually universal popularity, support behind him and his vision, followed by 2 years of megalomania and bad decision after bad decision and splitting and losing factions of the support and people who have been involved in the club for years Is it worth listening to? Is is just another 'love in' or is he being challenged with some difficult questions regarding the last two seasons I can’t disagree with any of that. The progress the Club made on and off the pitch between 2011 and 2019 was impressive. We were promoted back to the Conference/National League South with the crowds more than doubling and off the pitch I felt our profile in the City had never been higher or better. I’ve never doubted LL’s sincerity, he’s clearly as much of a fan of the Club as I am, but there now seems to be an attitude that every decision is the correct one with no engagement with anyone who disagrees. In the Autumn of 2019 I wrote three critical but polite letters arguing against the price increase but received no response to any of them. About two and a half weeks ago I sent a critical but polite e-mail to him asking if the 25% decrease in home attendances in the 2019/20 season bothers him at all and isn’t he concerned that the ungenerous Season Ticket refund offered might alienate supporters further? As yet I’ve had no reply and I am not holding my breath. On the plus side, last season (or at least what there was of it) was the most encouraging for a few years and the squad for next season (if there is one) is starting to shape up nicely. I guess the Club’s attitude is that if the team is successful new fans will attend and some of the disillusioned supporters will return. It’s probably true but is a risky strategy. I will most likely renew my Season Ticket, it’s just a shame I can’t feel as enthusiastic about the Club as I do about the Team.

Is it worth listening to? Is is just another 'love in' or is he being challenged with some difficult questions regarding the last two seasons It's on Radio Verulam with that idiot who does the commentary, so no challenges to answers and plenty of a**e licking. Question of making money from a new ground was not mentioned. I didn't renew my season ticket for 2020/21 and I won't be buying one for 2021/22 either. Have more important things to do on a Saturday afternoon for a while. What is it with all the press releases which talk about AL1? "Player X arrives in AL1" - Have they got lost in Sopwell?, Crashed in The Camp or broken down in St Julians? Just seems like marketing speak for a trendy bar that charges you £18 for a glass of tap water.

The interview was pretty excrutiating at times. Not a single challenging question and just another corporate PR put up job. No doubt all of the questions were supplied in advance by the Head of Media !!
Concerning to hear from saint68 that the Club are still not replying to e-mails. Perhaps this is something the Trust should be taking up with the Club ? In my opinion, every e-mail/contact they receive should be answered. That is not only good PR, but basic good manners !!

As a supporter for over 50 years and also being a qualified Accountant, I have endured so much drivel on this forum. All owners over the last 20 years seem to have received dogs abuse but I would challenge any negative commenting supporter on here to put over a grand a week into the club, through your company or not, and then you can have a real voice and have a go. Personally, I liked John Gibson he was always very civil and passionate about football and (I am sure told me the £1k a week input) but he was given so much abuse on here. I take people as i find them and John and Lawrence were/have always been very civilised passionate people for the club. I would always bow down to people at club like Ian Rogers who does so much for the club and has much better insight then me but reading some of the comments on here I think Keyboard Warriors with nothing better to do!

As EFMTFTV said, supporters were broadly happy with the owners until the last two years. The fact they put money into the club doesn't buy them freedom from scrutiny. They'd be putting less money in a month if they'd listened to fans concerns about the price rise. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, so fair enough if you're happy with how the club is being run. I wish I felt the same. The one thing I take issue with is being called a keyboard warrior. I've raised all my concerns to Lawrence's face and would happily do so again if we ever have another fans forum.

John Gibson and LL/JmcG have all put money in for an eventual profit on a new ground, the only difference is Gibson didn't know at the time that he wouldn't get any. LL has freely admitted they will make money on a new ground and if they walk away they will write off what they've spent against tax. So as an accountant you would have seen many times people speculating to accumulate So you'll excuse me if I don't shed any tears whilst a couple of multi-millionaires see their bank balance shrink by a tiny amount on a temp basis As for Gibson, his problem was he just had no communication skills with the support, despite your civil dealings with him Keyboard warriors is a bit rude, the condemnation of the owners is constant and consistent here, I won't comment on the TRUST but I do hope they have been challenging some of the clubs decisions in recent times

For 10 years the owners have financially supported this club, and no matter what size their bank balance is, this has to be commended. I don't think anyone has asked for tears to be shed.
The above post suggests that the only reason the owners have put money in is to eventually get a profit with a new ground. Good luck to them, history has shown us that getting St Albans a new ground is not easy, there's been rumblings on about it for decades. So if a new ground is achieved, it would've come about by hard work and financial funding.
But the moaners on here won't care, they will still be boycotting games and wearing no-badge shirts, anything to avoid giving the football club funds.

So the attitude now is that any criticism of the club is totally unjustified and we're all keyboard warriors with nothing else better to do !!
Remember an old business saying I heard once. "If you don't look after your customers, someone else will".

It's there club and there money so they can do what they want

Both the above comments are perfectly true. It is their club and they can do whatever they want, but they have to be careful not to alienate their customers. Attendances went down by 25% after the price rise, so I believe it’s more than just a few “keyboard warriors” or “constant whingers” who aren’t happy. I guess they hope that if there’s success on the pitch the missing fans will return and/or be replaced by others. This would probably happen but it’s risky.

Regarding my post on 15th May, I have now received a reply to my e-mail from Lawrence. Although he didn’t address everything I asked it was politely worded and regarding the Season Ticket refund it made sense from his point of view. To be honest, I didn’t expect more and just wanted a reply.

Well I guess that's progress if you got a reply. What reasons did he give for charging season ticket holders full price for games they weren't allowed to attend?

I don’t really want to repeat word for word what was basically a private conversation, but he argued that the 60% refund (or discount on renewal) was in addition to the 10% discount for Season Ticket holders and Club Members and that the feedback has been generally positive and sales are progressing well.
I still don’t think it’s a good offer but I’’m pleased to have received a reply. It was polite and friendly, so I don’t think I could have expected more.

I’d already claimed and received my 60% refund as at that point I hadn’t decided whether to renew my Season Ticket. I’ve since decided I would although I know it’s a risk.

Any idea how long we have got to buy season tickets ? Will it be right up to the start of the season ? I'm like you Saint, l too have received my 60% refund and have been undecided whether to renew my season ticket cos of covid likely to be a very real threat for Quite sometime to come, but l want to and will do, even as you say, it's a risk. I'm just wondering how long we will have to do it. I want to see how things go for now. Of course it may well be ok for a few months but then, when winter comes in, we might be stuffed again then !

Hi, Lagerman. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine Season Tickets will be available until the start of the season. I'd be surprised if we sell out unless we have to play in front of severely reduced crowds (i.e. a lot less than last season's capacity of 700). I suspect many people will be hanging on until we know a little more of how this variance is likely to go. You could always ring the Club and ask.
