Good news Canary Saint. Pretty much what the majority wanted! Means we have some decent looking local matches to look forward to next season!

New beginnings D Quite looking forward to the new season, but will not get too optimistic until the off field situation is sorted out. The Saints fans deserve something to cheer about!

Here is a link to the proposed structure for the 2011/12 season.
The proposed Southern Premier is as follows:
AFC Totton Arlesey Town Banbury United Barwell Bashley Bedford Town Brackley Town Cambridge City Chesham United Chippenham Town Cirencester Town Evesham United Frome Town Hemel Hemstead Town Hitchin Town Leamington Oxford City Redditch United St. Albans City Stourbridge Swindon Submarine Weymouth
It's the same as the proposed line-up posted on here at the beginning of May (the one designed in the spreadsheet by that guy from the Tony Kempster forum).

We'll probably get Weymouth away on a Tuesday night in January and first game of the season away to Hemel Certainly beats numerous trips to Essex in the Ryman ;D

We'll probably get Weymouth away on a Tuesday night in January and first game of the season away to Hemel Can I be the first "outsider" to welcome you (albeit "unofficially") to the Southern League. You'll enjoy it - some good days out and a warm welcome just about everywhere. As for the comment above - the SL are generally pretty switched on with midweek fixtures when they publish the lists. For example, our midweek pairings last season were Hednesford and Evesham, plus Halesowen and Leamington on the Bank Holidays. However, they obviously can't legislate for cup runs and bad weather and the rearrangements they cause.

Nice one Gaz, Essexgirl and Aries. I'll add these links into a stick thread at some point. Now we just need the fans' forum/message board for each club.

This is quite good news 'cos some of the new teams are within a 2-hour drive (ish) of me - Stourbridge, Redditch, Evesham & Barwell, for example. Might actually get a chance to cheer on the Saints during their promotion push!!!! I'm feeling optimistic today, but who knows what tomorrow will bring!

This could be a very important season for us if we get it right on the pitch, we've lost the Top 3 teams from this division upwards and sideways and the only relegated teams into it were ourselves and Reddich who were operating with a zero budget in the Conf North (although they have been since taken over) so there isn't any obvious teams who you'd think could win it
Brackley seem to be the annual moneybags, and Arlsley seem to have some cash floating around, a fellow City fan spoke to Ryan Frater recently and his wages were apparently tripled there and he couldn't even get in the team

From the Leamington F.C. site today. That last paragraph makes me feel so much better.
National League System - Latest
The Southern League today advised clubs of the following news relating to the structure. Following a meeting of the FA Leagues Committee yesterday relating to the expulsion of Rushden & Diamonds FC from the Football Conference at the weekend it became necessary to make further adjustments to the National League structure for season 2011/2012.
The decision set out below followed a long and thorough discussion during which a number of options were discussed. It was recommended that Rushden & Diamonds FC be excluded from the League structure pending any possible Appeal and the following movements approved:
Southport FC reprieved from relegation to Step 2 and returned to Step 1
Bishops Stortford FC moved from Conference South to Conference North
Thurrock FC reprieved from relegation to Step 3 and returned to Step 2 in Conference South
Aveley FC reprieved from relegation to Step 4 and returned to Step 3 in the Isthmian League Premier Division
Shepshed Dynamo reprieved from relegation to Step 5 and returned to Step 4 in the Northern Premier League Div 1 South
Bedworth United transferred from Northern Premier League Div 1 South to Southern League Div 1 Central
Soham Town Rangers FC transferred from Southern League Div 1 Central to Isthmian League Div 1 North
In addition, it was agreed that should it become necessary to accommodate Rushden & Diamonds FC they would be accommodated in the Southern League at Step 3 and that the competition would operate with 23 clubs in their Premier Division next season. Furthermore, it should be noted that the club will need to satisfy a number of conditions before being accepted into the League.

Glad we'd still be in the Southern League but R&D would surely be favorites now

If what has come out today from the Southern League is correct and we are definitely in it next season, I have to say I am not that bothered where R & D (if they are still in existence) are placed. What is going to be a problem, however, is the delay in sorting out the fixture programme, until everything is finalised.
Also if R & D to come in and everyone has to play 22 home games instead of 21, are every club in the league going to have to increase their season ticket prices accordingly?

Hopefully Rushden won't be able to afford to keep their really friendly stewards.
