That's a bit of experience added to the side then, hopefully he could help teach Effiong a thing or two!

I would argue that Rob will no way be first choice striker, I think he has only been brought in to add some experience and give us something differernt to play with.

Rather have Rob in and around the bench and in the squad than last season when he had to try and bring in a work experience person at 24hrs notice, doubt he'll be a starter but if we want a settled squad of 18 players then he'll be there

Hopefully my natural pessimism (it's what happens when you've supported City as long as I have!) will be allayed when we see which players are brought in over the next few weeks.

Age shouldnt be a problem, Tony Battersby was 35 i believe and he did well last year, covering at centre back one game i remember (Welling? which we won 1-0!)

I thought Effiong was under contract?

Effiong is only 20 so I would suggest that the Bosnan ruling will come into effect, should Farnborough want to take it further and we would receive compensation. Two things to bear in mind here - Effiong's value and Farnborough's financial state.

Big shame about Smithy. Can't blame him for wanting to play at a higher level though. Very good player.

Looks as if we signed 31 year old striker James Bent, who played for Howell at Harrow, after Howell stated he was unavailabe for our PSF tomorrow, along with Walker and Haworth, on Twitter
Howell also said that 30 players attended training last night, including veteran striker Paul Furlong

Furlong, aged 41, scored 5 in 16 in the Conf National last season for Kettering

From the Review report on the Aylesbury game :-
"After the game Howell, who is off to New York on Tuesday, revealed that he had made four more signings.
Impressive defender Reece Yorke, formerly with Barnet Youth, Wealdstone and England Schoolboys, was the first to sign followed by midfielder Marvin Alebiosu, striker Brian Haule ex-Hendon, Hampton and Harrow, and Kojo Appentang formerly with Canvey Island. "

Just been listening to the last David Howell interview on the official website. What I like about the new manager is that his answers go beyond the typical football clichés and are always thoughtful and reflective. What I really like, though, is that he doesn't give the journalists an easy time. His answers can be a little unpredictable occasionally (i.e. probably not the answer the interviewer was expecting) and he can be quite short and direct with some of the less interesting questions, which is a good thing! The interviews have all been very interesting to listen to so far. No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/thup.gif

I am myself concerened by the lack of signings in the forward positions. Both strikers we have signed, Walker and Haule are both from Harrow, and James Bent, who Howell sounds like is about to sign is also from Harrow. Is he struggling to find strikers aways from his old club?
