The City Archives - Boxmoor, 1910[/u]
We have a new feature to place alongside our previews this season, as one of Saints Chat's regular posters, Brummie, delves into the history books to provide us with match reports from the past. This gives a chance to walk down memory lane, or learn a little about City's past, before the next match in the present!
This time, Brummie has given us a typed report of a Herts County League match, which took place in 1910. Over to Brummie for the report!
Thanks, as always, go to Brummie for delving into the City Archives to provide us with an interesting read alongside our usual match previews!

Ft: 2-1. Last kick of the game was a Frome free kick which whistled past Jupp. Impressive display from the Saints, and it's certainly something to build on with some good football on show from City!

2 goals in a minute AGAIN but both times this week for St Albans City sides and both winning teams and also this time the First team held from a 2 goal lead to win.

Great performance from the Saints. I thought Frome Town looked like a good side and they kept battling until the end. With that in mind, this was a really good win for City. Bakare took both of his goals well and I thought we were probably worth the lead going into half-time as we had played very well during the first-half. Frome came back into it second-half although we probably had one or two chances to seal the win. I thought this was one of the best home games we've had this season. Good performance, great goals and some excellent entertainment. Most important was getting the three points, of course!

Far more convincing today. A few more performances of this ilk and happier days may well be ahead

It's good to hear that even the forum pessimist is pleased with today's performance! I'm only saying it because I know you'll take it the right way Canary Saint! On a serious note, let's hope that this is the start of a decent run of form now!

Spoke to Rob Haworth in the bar afterwards and he seemed to think a good run was just round the corner (3 games unbeaten could be argued as the start of one already)

Good win today and enjoyed the game. Thought all the players played an important part. Spotted our chairman getting a bit passionate towards the end of the game. Very refreshing to see!!

Spoke to Rob Haworth in the bar afterwards and he seemed to think a good run was just round the corner (3 games unbeaten could be argued as the start of one already) The only problem with that though is the damn cup games getting in the way of what could be a very useful run of league games in which to pick up some points.
