Time to reach for the book of football clichés.I am sure the management will be saying things like battling performance, standing up to be counted, and being strong etc, etc. The truth may well be some of those things, but it was also about one team who tried to play a little bit of football in difficult conditions (them), and the other who decided from the kick off was to get the ball behind them and get their defenders turned. I thought that we over did these tactics but the end justifies the means. Clearly the conditions were not ideal, you could here the studs as players ran past you, but did Micah have to play virtually every ball first time - I guess it is easy when you are wrapped up in a cap, scarf and overcoat sure footed on the terracing. Back to the facts. Redditch were at their most dangerous when we had corners ! I didn't catch the names of their players, but that must have had Moses up front the way they parted our defence at will in the first half, totally evaporated it a couple of times. They scored one from our corner and quite possibly would have had another but for Bernard racing across and stopping the forward with an outrageous body check .one of their goals was a forty yard toe poke, another when the central defenders were having a sunday tea party (after you James,no after you Cedric). Terrible defending, clearly Gray was struggling to adapt to the conditions. I guess credit is due to the manager for more or less sorting this out in the second half and getting lucky with his late sub netting the winner. Pluses for Simon and Sakho who toiled honestly. Let's hope it's a bit warmer down on the south coast on Saturday .

Great report lonecrank! fits with what i heard aswell. Redditch were at their most dangerous when we were attacking! However As has been said its a poor old league and we can only beat what we face so a good 3 points. And now that Bakare has scored again he will probably drop to 3rd choice striker! Its terrible that we have a striker who does nothing but scores goals! Some people I speak to tell me that they think Bakare is a bit in and out and maybe doesnt work hard enough. Reminds me of a line fro 'The Life Of Brian' What have the Romans ever done for us ..... apart from that. Well what has Bakare done for us? He scores goals and some good ones at that so I for one want to see him continue up front. Chelsea and Liverpoool must be very envious! So we are up to 9th in league and only 2 teams have scored more goals than us. Sadly, only one team has conceded more and no one has played more so we might be able to finish the season early. Any weather forecasts for the totton region on Saturday? COYS

well said.
i was always under the impression a strikers job was to score goals (anything else is a bonus but i'll take just the goals and stuff the 'work ethic')

Just for the record, Bakare has started in 13 games this season and has scored 12 goals. He has also come on as sub in 16 games, often very late on, and he been an unused sub on 3 further occasions. That is a pretty good strike rate in anyone's book, if you ask me.

I can answer that in terms of league appearances.
1 goal versus Redditch Utd away (started and played full match) 1 goal (pen) versus Swindon Supermarine at home (started and played full match) 1 goal versus Hemel Hempstead away (started and played full match) 1 goal versus Bedford Town away (started and played full match)
2 goals versus Leamington at home (started and played 82 mins) 2 goals versus Frome Town at home (started and played 71 mins)
1 goal at home to AFC Totton (on as a sub at HT) 1 goal (pen) at home to Hitchin Town (on as a sub at HT)

In my opinion Sakho has improved his all round game steadily throughout the season. He can now receive 'difficult' clearances, control, and bring others into the play.We all have seen how he can create his own chances, and score them.He now needs to be able to 'punch his own height'. Something that I am sure will come in time, along with good coaching from Howell,Charlery and Paul Furlong.

The other 2 goals are Cheshunt (a) in the Herts Charity Cup and Broxbourne V & E (h) in the Herts Senior Cup. He started in both.

Sorry to be picky, but............................................. Simon Martin wasn't signed for the club when we played Bedford away. Jerome Walker was the other striker. Still makes Simon the best partner though.
