Firstly I would like to say I am an eternal optimist and a believer in David Howell.
I have just seen a 'tweet' from owsy5 saying "We bossed a difficult match at Evesham for long periods"
I know this game is all about opinions and I always respect his,but I certainly do not share that view.
I am not sure how many of our fans witnessed the 'warm up' they were probably in the bar,god knows they needed some anaesthetisation to get through this ninety minutes.
Today's 'warm up' ended with a knockabout game of tag ( no ball) and ended with David Ijaha limping back to the dressing room in seemingly a deal of pain after some shenanigans with Matt Cutchey.I didn't see the physio or David Howell present at this time.
We will never know how much his performance was effected by this.
It is not often a manager will make a tactical substitution in the first half, possible hoping a player will improve,or maybe to do so would be owning up to a mistake in selection.
Previously I have called for Lansiquot to be given a start in the team.I agreed that he should have been given another chance after Totton,(they were a tough defence and he had no service).Today's selection was marginal IMO,but to leave him on past thirty minutes was not good judgement. He has now played three hours and in my recollection had one shot,a thirty yarder twenty feet too high at Totton.
Sakho,so often are saviour was equally as poor.Certainly what D.H. said in his after match interview last week was spot on.
He was always on the back foot, never anticipating anything, totally dominated in the air, in fact we made the centre halves look like Ferdinand and Vidic today. At least when Simon came on he put up a bit of a fight against them - winning the corner brilliantly delivered by Danny Hart for our equaliser.
I felt today was a must win match against a team scrambling near the bottom, I hope I am wrong ,but I feel our play off hopes went up in smoke today.
Fair play to Evesham,it must be very difficult playing at a borrowed ground in front of sparse crowds, you were the better team today and I hope you stay in the division.
