I am told that the voting for this year's Player Of The Season award will take place on April 7 at the Weymouth game, together with the Goal Of The Season and Wagstaffe Simmons awards. The actual awards are to be presented after the last home game against Chippenham Town on April 21. I don't see it as being anything like as clear cut as last season. Could be any one of five in my book. What does everyone else think?

Could be any one of five in my book. What does everyone else think? I was thinking the same thing the other day. In my opinion, the shortlist looks like this: Nick Jupp James Gray Sean Shields David Ijaha Sakho Bakare Should also mention Cedric Ngakame and Micah Hyde; they'll presumably be in the running. Anyone else I've missed?

Micah Hyde will have a lot of support, I think.

Micah Hyde will have a lot of support, I think. Definitely. His arrival was the reason for our upturn in form, we only started looking like a football team when he came in.

True COYS but Jupp has been outstanding in our team this season and should be in anyones list. His displays since turn of the year have been the foundation of our results. When wwe beat Cambridge he was a clear MOM and his shot stopping on Tuesday was top drawer. I also likeSakho Bakare as i think that he and Jupp could play at a better level. As for goal of the season our goal on saturday was brilliant in my book starting as it did from our half with us taking the ball off them and after a few passes being put in. a real team effort

Difficult one considering how much the team has changed all throughout the season to what we have now, I looked at the Stourbridge away game earlier and only 3 players were in the team for the away game who played on Tuesday - Jupp, Watts and Ijaha

Gray and Hyde coming in made a big difference (how many games have they played now) Ijaha has been great since they especailly Hyde came in, Jupp has been good all season, Frenchie and Sean have looked good (again not much game time) Watts, Hart and Simon have all played there part.
Apologises to every one i've missed out lol

I think James Gray may get a few votes too. The arrival of him and Hyde have sured us up defensively in last few months.

I think James Gray may get a few votes too. The arrival of him and Hyde have sured us up defensively in last few months. That is a very good point. Hyde made his debut in the away game at Hitchin, immediately after the Barwell debacle. Gray made his presence felt at pretty much around the same time. It was the turning point of the season. We have taken 35 points since then, from only 17 games. With that sort of return over the whole season, we would have won the league by a distance.

Yes, very much in agreement with Ebsacfc and Boomer. Gray and Hyde were key players and made a huge difference when they arrived. I have to say that I think I'll be voting for either Nick Jupp or Sakho Bakare. I can't decide which right now! Jupp has been outstanding at times and made some amazing saves to keep us in games at key times. However, Bakare has been a very exciting player to watch all season and has scored some great goals. Would people agree that the likely list of candidates would be: Nick Jupp James Gray Sean Shields David Ijaha Sakho Bakare Micah Hyde Perhaps we should have a Saints Chat poll for fun? Boomer, you can always make a poll on this thread if you wanted to by scrolling up to your opening post and looking to the right where you'll see the icon 'add poll'. Otherwise, I can always start a new thread for the purposes of putting up a poll for people on the forum to vote. Let me know.
