Lowestoft Town at home - not an easy draw, but at least we are at home and they will bring a decent crowd

Thanks for that.
Well that could have been kinder - as Howell just noted on Twitter, Lowestoft are among the favourites to win the Ryman Premier League.
Having said that, it could have been worse and I would fancy our chances against anyone at this level at the moment.

We are amoung the favourites to win this league but we are at home.
This is a tough test but it could have been tougher. We'll see just how good we are.

Lowerstoft have been there or thereabouts in the Ryman for a few seasons, they made quite an impressive rise through the divisions in recent seasons and are well supported
At least it's not a Conf S/N team and we are at home and are both in the running for the league (in theory), should be a good match up

The fact that it's at home could be rather important imo...

Trawlerboys will be extremely tough but way saints are progressing theres every chance of getting thru. Arlesey first this weekend, always good to have trophy run. Maybe monies from facup could be used to streghten squad as and when needed?

For the purposes of the archive match report we have played then before. The F A Trophy in 1981. City won 4-1 with Sille 2 Mayles and Dudman scoring the goals. Don't know about you others but I'd be happy with the same result this time round

Won 3 out of 3 at home but a record of W 1 D 1 L 1 away although they have played the top 2 away and beat Wealdstone away in the cup !

Lowestoft are a very strong and "professional" team. We will be challenged physically in this tie, and will need to be at our very best.
I believe we played and beat them in the FA Cup in 1968-9 on the way to the 2nd Round proper.
Good omen.

Quite a few of the perceived lower teams left in the draw playing each other in the 3Q round as well so if we get through this we could find ourselves with a nice little tie before the 'medium' boys from L1 & L2 get it

FA Cup 1968/69
1st QR beat Wycombe 1-0 at home after a 0-0 at Loakes Park 2nd QR beat Erith & Belvedere 3-2 3rd QR away at Hitchin, won 2-0 4th QR away at Corby, won 2-0 1st Round proper, beat Wealdstone 1-0 after 1-1 at their place 2nd Round proper, lost 1-3 to Walsall at their place after honourable 1-1 at the Park
I'm sat here re-reading all the programmes!!! Wouldn't it be great to do that again...

I can also see this game attracting a sizeable crowd. I don't know if Lowestoft have a great away following but their home attendances are generally topping 600. One other point - they seem to have a habit of scoring very early on in games and we need be very aware of this. This will be a tough game but it is certainly one we can win. I would far rather us face Lowestoft at home than a top half Conference South side away. COYS No images allowed -http://i44.tinypic.com/34o7ceq.jpg

They even had Bill Ratty's goal against Walsall on the news.

Hi Canary Saint, I missed the Erith game (can't remember why!) but went to all the others and yes, happy days indeed. Remember running onto the pitch at Corby at the end, hugging John Butterfield and ruining a new pair of shoes in the mud! And that home game v Walsall - just 5 minutes from glory! In my 'memorabilia box' is The Observer report of the game, and we get great plaudits.

I see the Redditch United match has been rearranged for Tue 06 November 2012.

That's a shame as Reddich lost in the trophy and Bedford won meaning we have a free weekend on 27th October now, could have played it that day
Although St Neots also lost so out game against them could be moved from FA Cup 4Q day if we got though as they are out the FA Cup

Nice try EFMTFTV, but Redditch United will be at home to Barwell that day in the scheduled league programme as both lost yesterday and St Neots will be at Kettering (maybe). I'm scanning the NLP results with a fine toothcomb but there are a few 'ifs' and 'ands' at the moment.

First time on this forum although I have tended to attend the odd game over the last few years. Have decided to make the Saints my local club to follow and will attempt to go to most games now.
Born in Bristol and a BRFC diehard I was delighted to see Barry Hayles again on Saturday if rather saddened. He looked grumpy and out of sorts. Anyway looking forward to the game on Saturday and I hope the Saints get past them and can get into the first round proper. A badly needed financial boost if they do. But I agree with the general sentiment, it is essential for the club that they get promoted this season.

Welcome to the forum, Pirate. Glad you've adopted the Saints as your local club!
Last Saturday was a bad day at the office for the Saints. Hopefully this coming Saturday, you'll get to see Barry Hayles and the rest of the team on form again.

I think Barry was more frustrated last week and with a first half booking it was probably a good idea to take him off

Welcome pirate unusual for Barry to have a bad game been impressed with him so far this season especially his work rate for his age.

Welcome pirate unusual for Barry to have a bad game been impressed with him so far this season especially his work rate for his age. Many thanks to all. Having watched Mr Hayles run riot in Div 1 for a couple if seasons it was a bit sad Saturday. But I hope he can add his invaluable experience to the younger members of the team. A good test Saturday I think, a test to gauge the team by. Looking forward to it and a beer in the club house bar beforehand.
