Celebrate Non-League Football with St Albans City FC
Saturday 13th October is National Non-League Day which celebrates the semi-professional and amateur game and shines a light on the clubs that are almost exclusively volunteer run. It is a chance for supporters of bigger clubs to come and experience football at a level in which they may never have done before and give well deserved support to the local team who do so much good for the community.
In celebration of this day we will be offering half priced entry of £5 into Clarence Park for our fixture against Barwell, to all those working in the armed forces and emergency services that show their identification badge at the gate. In addition, like with every home fixture, all students with a NUS card or those in possession of a league club season ticket who show it on the day will also receive half priced entry.
The Saints Bar will be offering a Non-League Day special where all pints will be £2.50* (*excluding Stella and Guinness)
So come down to Clarence Park and celebrate the non-league game with St Albans City FC!

Nice one Gareth. Barwell wouldn't normally be a crowd puller so a few incentives to get people down the park is good.

Just like previous non-league days I feel we could have done a bit more for it TBH, we should be dishing out kids for a quid or free tickets, half price entry to various groups of people that wouldn't normally come (i.e thameslink season ticket holders) rather than just armed forces and nurses and students. How are we getting the message to armed forces / nurses and students BTW?

EFMTFTV, Gaz,
Kids under 12 go free anyway with a paying adult and 12 to 16 year olds only pay £2 so we felt reducing the price by a £1 wouldnt have done that much to bring anymore people in. The kids go free scheme is something we actively promote in the community. Next week players will be visiting several schools to give away lots of free tickets to the children as well as distrubuting those that come with sponsoring a player to schools and charities.
Myself and Kate have personally spoken to the marketing teams in all of the emergency services and Ministry of Defence all of whom have kindly offered to email the relevant stations, hospitals and barracks in or around our area so hopefully that answers that question.
Jack FM and the local newspapers will be running the promotion this week. Ian Ridley promoted the day and club during his spot on Talk Sport last week with Keys & Gray and Watford FC will be running the promotion on their website in the absence of any top level football this weekend.
If anybody has any other ideas then let me know and if agreed we will try and implement them ASAP.

It's good to hear that someone is doing something possitive for a change rather than slagging off the Trust!
I hope this is a success.

I don't believe we ever do enough with things like non league day should just let all kids in free they would be bringing a paying adult anyway so don't lose any money and would get a lot more in and all possible future payers.
Should even do things like fixture posters just for this game as early as possible promoting it and the cheap entry.

Great to see so many ideas promoting club, i think every so often a leaflet inside Reveiw or Herts Ad advertising home games would be good to get some new fans into clarence park especially from villages London Colney, Colney Heath and Sandridge, wots to lose? Every new fan counts.

Let's hope it's a good game and a good result today so that anyone that pops along thinks about coming again next week.

Every new fan counts. Definitely agree with this. Let's hope it's a good game and a good result today so that anyone that pops along thinks about coming again next week. Well, I suppose they at least got an eight goal thriller if not the result we all wanted. The attendance today was 424. Last season, this fixture took place on the first Saturday in December and the attendance was 324. So 100 more people today. Possibly some impact from 'Non-League Day' then although there are obviously other factors to consider.
