It seems that the game is on . I also see from the Hemel site that away travel by coach is free for season ticket holders and under 18s and only £5 for others!

www.hemelfc.com/news/hemel-v-st-albans-preview-1139969.html no pitch inspection planned for tonight, I hear the pitch isn't in fantastic condition... but let's get this cup tie out of the way so neither club has to rearrange league fixtures at a later date. reduced admission prices too, £8 for adults, which seems fair as I expect neither side will be fielding our strongest teams due to both our respective league efforts taking priority. hopefully see a few of you at Vauxhall Road, my offer of a drink still stands to those of you i've offered. I also see from the Hemel site that away travel by coach is free for season ticket holders and under 18s and only £5 for others! it's normally a tenner for away trips, but for the Totton game you refer to one of our fans is generously paying the majority of the coach fee.

Firstly, turning up and getting charged a tenner when it was posted to be reduced prices is a major public relations error especially when Hemel are owned by someone who has had the part of his brain containing social skills removed. The guy is arrogant and blessed with a dress sense and hair cut that would not look out of place in Roston Vasey. A true prat. Thank you Nick for offering a refund. Put it towards the club! As for the game. We had the referee who officiated our game away to Tonbridge and sadly, he was every bit as clueless as then, well backed up with two equally clueless linos. This guy should not be officiating even at this level. A litany of errors throughoutthe game. Truly awful. However had we taken our multitude of chances at the end of the game we could have and even should have won this game. We were really remiss in front of goal. again. And Marc the tudor fan , thanks for apologising for incorrect info, but even you, if at the game, must agree that the ref was pants and your goalie should have gone. Cannot believe the decision to give a yellow card. what a joke. And if we ever have the misfortune to have that muppet officiating we need to ensure the game is filmed. tonites game was filmed so I would be very happy to get a copy of the full game if possible. Move on to saturday and giving a team a good gubbing. COYS

I completely agree about the admission prices. Whether it was a mistake or not, Hemel should have honoured the £8 advertised.
Having said that, it was an entertaining game despite the final result. The difference between the two sides was the pace at which Hemel broke on the counter-attack and their finishing. In the last 20 minutes Saints had about half a dozen chances to score. If it had been 8-5 to Saints, it wouldn't have been much of a surprise.
Having asked about Chris Henry's effectiveness when starting a game as opposed to coming on as a sub in the St Neots thread, I think I have my answer. He's a good player, quick and unpredictable, but sometimes he forgets to take the ball with him. He seemed to be suffering with cramp after around 75 minutes too and he wasn't quite the threat in the last 20 minutes that he had been earlier on.
It was frustrating to see Mark Nwokeji seemingly complaining about his team-mates' choices at times. Yes, of course it's frustrating when a wide player chooses the wrong option but that's the problem of being a forward. Sometimes you make the run, get perfectly into space and the ball doesn't come to you.
There's a lot to like about James Comley but I wish he'd strike his foot through the ball a bit more when shooting, rather than try to curl or loft his shots into the top corner. The Hemel keeper looked vulnerable from crosses and from distance and if he'd been forced to work a few more times he might have spilled one or two.
As for the officials... it was daft that he didn't let the sub come on for Keenleyside when Hemel broke away to score and the keeper should have been sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Also, in the few months I've been watching football at this level, the assistant referees seem to want to give offside first and worry about whether it was the correct decision later. What happened to giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking player.
I agree with DavyMac here, Saints could have won the game, but it was entertaining if error-strewn stuff. Let's hope Saints create this many chances against Arlesey on Saturday.

apologies, I posted the article on the Hemel website re admission prices based on a conversation with our club secretary on Sunday. Our chairman returned today, having been out the country, and as was unaware of the publicised reduction full price was charged. by the time it was pointed out to him that the website featured a different price it was too late as many people had already paid to get in. he wasn't happy about the situation, apologies again on behalf of the club if this was reflected in how you was dealt with. wholly agree about his haircut, our supporters even have a song dedicated to it. good game though, you certainly got your tenner's worth, I can't recall the last time I watched a game where both teams created so many goal scoring chances. it was real end to end stuff, so many corners and counter attacks - the 2-0 half time score wasn't a reflection on who had the most shots, just who made them count. Great second half, rarely a dull moment and both teams seemed to set aside league ambitions and really try to win this tie. us Hemel fans were bemused about the referee's decision to book our young debut 'keeper for the foul that led to the penalty - we thought maybe from our end of the pitch we had missed a Hemel defender get behind the ball so the 'keeper wasn't last man? if the ref acknowledges that the 'keeper fouled your man, which he did by giving the penalty, then it had to be a red. A Herts FA official, maybe an assessor - I don't know for sure - who in the boardroom after the game agreed that it should have been red. video highlights will be posted on our website, you can obtain a full 90 minutes DVD from our club shop for about £4 (prices may vary depending on chairman's mood ) but they're made to order so just send me a message if you still want one.

also, was there a second half incident down your end which the stewards had to deal with? saw a few fluorescent jackets running towards your fans but none of us could see if someone needed assistance or whether someone was misbehaving.

Where do I even start..... Hemel got it wrong and I appreciate there may have been a communications error with prices, but they should have honored it. I was shouted at by a 60 year old man and I quote "Shut the f**K up you fu**king c**t" when applauding a great tackle by Howie Hall. I gave him a piece of my mind back, which soon shut him up. I won't tolerate that from anyone. I won't generalise Hemel fans as they are not all like that, but some of them have no class. A friend of mine was assaulted by stewards, once again stewards over reacting to a situation which didn't even warrant attention. The level of officiating once again reaching new lows and wont be held accountable for their action as they are above punishment, adding insult to injury it being the same Ref from Tonbridge angels away leg who sent Graham off. Despite all this action off field there was a very good game of football being played from both sides.
With both teams fielding a pretty strong eleven, it was very competitive game of football, once again we showed when we perform to our ability we are right up there with the best. There was plenty of chances for both teams and I don't think I've seen so many sitters missed by our team in one game absolutely incredible. Like others have stated it could have been at minimum 6-4. The condition and pitch were terrible so it was a pleasure to see the level of football we did. We have still not hit top form but their are signs that we are starting to work our way back up there. Chrissy played 90 minutes which will serve him well. I thought he played well at times but I still maintain he is a super sub type of player, but would be happy to be proved wrong. Matty Taylor had an instant impact when he came on and had a major part to play in one of our goals. Chappell looked tired today I thought it would be the perfect time to give him a rest. I think he needs it.
The situation for Hemel's second goal was shambolic, Jimmy shouted at the lino five times sub please, which the Lino finally responded on the fifth attempt, the Lino raised his flag so we could get Keeno off. The players stopped, the ref then blew his whistle for the corner whilst we are trying to make the substitution and Hemel are allowed to practically walk it into the net. Gray expecting the lino to call the play back and explain what had happened to the referee, put his flag down and pretended like it never happened. If mistakes are made like that in the real world, then you are held accountable for your actions and sometimes sacked. Officials just seem to be able to do what they want and get away with it. Even Ollie Thorne after coming off in the second half thought that the situation was a joke. Then when you think it Can't get any worse the referee give a penalty without sending there keeper off, after hauling one of our players down. There was not a Hemel player within 5 yards of them, he was clearly last man and when Goldsy asked why he didn't send him off, the ref claimed he had his back to goal so it wasn't a scoring opportunity. First of all he didn't have his back to go and secondly, that not even the rule, he just invented that rule on the spot to justify his decision. Anyone thinking the ref had a good game needs there head testing, apparently the Hemel fans on their forum felt he had a good game... laughable really. End of Rant about officials. It was end to end stuff and fantastic to watch, best described as a basketball match which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I also over heard Ollie Thorne describe us as the best team they have faced in the league, with poole town being the ones to watch out for. feels the table doesn't represent the quality we have as a team which is good to hear from an opposing player from a team currently sitting at the top of the table. It's now time to focus onwards and upwards in the league and keep improving week on week and make those play offs.

Basically Marc, my friend ran towards the wall to shout at the ref that was a red (keeping it simple). There was no malice involved or signs of miss behavior one steward massively over reacted and grabbed him by the shoulder rather than asking him to move back to the stands. He politely asked the stewards to take his hands off him, to which the steward took exception and this time more harshly pulled him back again. He once again politely asked him to not touch him again and asked what the problem was, which the steward then grabbed him by the throat. That's when my friend fought back. If a steward grabbed my throat with out warning, I would have taken exception to it too. All the steward had to do was say can you please move back from the wall and there would have been no issue what so ever.

I did not see the alleged incident involving one of our fans and the stewards as I was also being requested to move away from the pitch edge by a steward, who was being quite civil. Any action by a person, in whatever capacity, that results in physical intervention is assault and has to justified . In law, the intervention has to be appropriate and proportionate in relation to the threat posed. Someone pushes you, you cant shoot in defence them as an extreme example. As some one who is trained to train people in Restrictive Physical Intervention(i.e. a trainer) grabbing by the throat is wholly unacceptable in 99.9999999 % of cases. If this incident occurred as described and was witnessed as such, I feel that an investigation of said incident needs to take place as an assault may have occurred. I wonder if the video of the game shows any of this.

Now you know why we only take flares to away games and never invade the Vauxhall Road pitch.
Good crowd for a minor cup tie, good game and a decent atmosphere - roll on our league fixture.

Marc you seem a decent fellow (despite the spelling of your name lol) but it does seem some people involved with your club are not ! Genuine mistake on admission price and not your fault as is usual a lack of communication.
Who was this ref ? I think the guy should be named and shamed he is a disgrace and has cost us once in a cup game and very nearly twice.
recentconvert you've got it spot on about Henry great impact player does sometimes trick the player but forget the ball but still a lovely player to have on the bench and Comley very skillful but tries to walk the ball through the middle too much rather than shooting at times.
