Last week's interviews with Jimmy Gray and Lee Chappell on the club site were great (particularly the Chappell one) and Jimmy's post-Wealdstone interview with Dave Tavener is also revealing on a number of matters. 1. Geoff Mitchell was rushed to hospital with appendicitis. Jimmy said he liked the look of him and it's a shame he's going to be out of action for a little while. I hope it's not the last we see of him because he looked big, powerful and imposing, although lacking a bit of match fitness. 2. Saints will field a strong-ish team in the Herts Charity Cup at Bishops Stortford on Tuesday. Jimmy suggested that the five players on the bench at Wealdstone would be in line to start. I must admit, when I saw the name Joel Watson on the subs bench on Saturday I didn't have a clue who he was. He's part of the under-21 squad, for those who also didn't know. 3. Jimmy confirmed just how much Ben Martin is playing through the pain barrier. He's got sciatica, a bad hip and a knee that balloons up. Just puts into perspective what some of these guys put their bodies through week-in, week-out. 4. The management will sit down with the chairman to discuss "things" now they've played 10 games. It'll be interested to see what gets decided and whether they push the boat out to attract a couple more players who might help us over the next ten games or so. I can recommend the full interview. Watson has been travelling with the first team squad to matches, both home and away, since at least December last season, for the specific reason that it will help him adapt to the first team squad. He doesn't get as much press as Kaloczi etc did at his stage, but he's a good player, and the management clearly have high hopes for him. Jimmy, in a previous interview, stated that they'd already been looking for ways to improve the squad... 6th after 10 games? I think they could get another little boost...

Cut the budget and put up the entrance fee

Having seen Joel play , he can pass the ball and see whats going on around him, but just worried he may get knocked off the ball a bit easy, saying that Keenleyside is the same sort of build and copes well at this level, Be good to see him have a full game tuesday as the lad puts the time in and as you say aways travels with the first team so deserves a run out.
