I'm sure you are all aware of the recent issues that we have encountered regarding multiple claims made against images used on the forum. As a result of the copyright issues, we disabled all images and removed avatars as a precaution against any further issues that may risk the future of the Saints Chat forum.
I have since had some feedback from ProBoards regarding avatars and I'm happy to say that members can now restore their avatars or use avatars of their choice on the forum.
The headline message here, however, is that users must ensure that they have permission to use the image that they select for their avatar. I have been told by ProBoards that if a member of the forum is using an image that they don't have permission to use, and that gets reported to ProBoards, the ProBoards abuse team would remove the image and contact the member in question. It would not have an effect on the whole forum.
Essentially, please feel free to use your own custom avatars but be aware that if you don't have permission to use the image there is a chance that your image would be removed should a claim be made against it. Also, you may be warned by the ProBoards team regarding any copyright issues associated with the image.
I hope that this clears things up. I'm sorry that we had to remove avatars initially but the motivation was just to make sure that we didn't have any further issues with DMCA takedowns.
