An overall disappointing performance. Didn't rake advantage of the limited opportunities we had and we're too easily put under pressure by our own lax play at times. One point from last four games not great for and gosport will be a tough proposition. We owe them I believe. Hemel look like middle of the table as well .no great shakes really. However we do have to do something about our approach to any dead ball situation. Our free kick efforts were truly abysmal. Back to basics in training. I understand that James k is on way back. I hope so. Can't understand why he is out of favour. Needs a run of games for us as well. Where is Matt Taylor? On the positive side I don't believe that there are any truly outstanding teams in the league and we can hopefully still finish above relegation zone as I don't think an end of season dogfight would be advisable with our current performances . Coys I believe Matt Taylor will be out for some time. As I understand it, he has a cruciate ligament injury.

Think lot of Saints fans refuse to go to Hemel due the ticket pricing fiasco last season.
I know I will never return there after that incident.

Anyone know why Nathan Green wasn't in the squad today? Did he pick up an injury at Sutton?

Sadly it looks like the woooood have had a bounce back after the weekend winning 5-0.Tough choice for Mr Green . Us or Dartford. No brainer really. Only bottom team has lost more games than us. Of the other eight below two have lost the same and 6 have lost fewer! We've only had two draws. No middle ground for us then. Lack of goals and leaky defence not a great combination. however with top two beginning to create a gap and staines rooted at the bottom we are 8 points outside playoffs and 7 above relegation. middish table but too close to bottom at same time. Need a crowd and a win Sunday . Gosport only conceded 15 goals this season and have a +21 GD as to our -4 yet have only scored 5 more than us having played 2 less Will be tough. Similar crowd size at Hemel as at The Park. £10 there £15 at us In theory our gate brought in 50% more revenue. Interesting.

After still not seeing City win since Staines away I travelled to Vauxhall with high spirits. That lasted exactly 5 minutes upon entering the ground when I heard that not only had we lost one of our first XI, but three and worse than that it was our three best players who are the spine of our team a forward, the best midfielder in the league and one of the best keepers in the league if not the best, who are all leaders on the pitch. The only way it could have been worse was if we had lost Gayle at the back too. When the Hemel players saw that team sheet seeing Coms, Frendo and Welchy they must have been licking their lips. At this point I was hoping we had enough in defence to perform a miracle and despite Hemel deserving to win the game we had chances, good ones at that too.
Now with three vital players out I knew that one of them would come back to haunt us and sadly actually all three were missed. I don't blame Tom Coulton, difficult game to be thrust into on NYD against Hemel, but if Welch had played today not one of those goals is scored by Hemel I'm Afraid. The first one Welch would have caught that with ease from the corner before the mayhem that happened after. The second Goal despite us being our obnoxious selves again not shutting down Parkes on the edge of the area. It took an age for that to go in (It was painful) and when he finally dives he still gets a full hand to it and doesn't keep it out. The final goal it looks like he gets a big glove to it too, but that was down the other end of the pitch so I will wait for the video to confirm it. Unfortunately he didn't have his best game today, but he has been out of the first XI for months and is young. Hopefully he will work hard in training as he is a good young keeper.
That game was crying out for Coms today, his energy, pressing, ability to make a fools out of players, run from box to box and fighting spirit is everything we lacked in the centre of the park. I do believe if we hadn't of had those three players injured today despite Hemel being the better team over 90 mins. We would have given them a proper game, they were not actually that good today, better than last week, but they were not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination. I actually thought Sam Played quite well again, unfortunately when he did get on the ball and laid it off to other people they were losing the ball left right and centre.
Frendo would have buried Baileys chance, his experience, hold up player and ability to bully CB was sorely missed. Not only that, not that I agree with falling over easier to get the right decision. I can see why players do it to win penalties on todays example. Before Bailey got to that point to have a shot, Bailey attempting to run through on goal is Man Handled by Diarra just inside the penalty area. Diarra wrapped his hands round Bailey as if it was his last hug before he died. Now remarkably for a player in this day in age he decided to stay on his feet, tussle and eventually break free. The referees needs to start awarding players who try to stay on the feet otherwise long will diving continue. If that's Frendo or a player with experience he will fall to the ground and it would be a penalty all day long. While Diarra wrestles with Bailey you can see the ref bringing the whistle up to his mouth and as he breaks free he drops the whistles. It shouldn't be that you have to fall over to get a foul. Now that could have changed the game but who really knows.
Just like to add that Lancaster's first Goal for the club was one classy finish and not that I'm blaming the guy messaging on the Hemel forum, as he completely mis informed by a St.Albans fan, so it was not his fault. The header was certainly not caught by the wind it was a quality header. I do not appreciate Hemel fans/ fan playing Chinese whispers on their forum again. Talking about us singing about a song something along the lines of breaking legs. whilst I will not deny something like that was sung by our fans, it was actually in response to your fans in the first half that were stood right by the segregation next to us who sung something similar, so don't make us sound like the bad ones it takes two to tango. There was one incident at the end by one (singular) of our moron supporters, but sadly we all have them.
I thought Hemel fans were very quiet the opposite stand were non existent other than the goals, at least the guys by the segregation were giving it as good as they got. Quite disappointing considering how loud you were last year. I think the reason why we didn't bring as many fans this year is families that also came last year, were put off by last years events. Along with the price hike incident.

I wasn't at the game yesterday, (having to wait in for an emergency Plumber) & could only make a 3pm kick off game (Waltham Abbey v Harlow Town) but perhaps can throw some light on Bailey not going down for a penalty, as described above. I was at the U21s game between the two sides earlier in the season when there was a similar incident between the same players, when Bailey was tripped from behind by Diarra when bursting into the box. I was right in line with play & it was a clear penalty but the referee gave a free kick to Hemel & booked Bailey for diving.
As a regular at non-league games in the area I have also seen him play in a Herts Charity Shield game for London Colney at Sawbridgeworth recently, where he was booked once again, this time for dissent, following the denial of another penalty for being manhandled in the box.
I hate to see diving in the box as it wasn't a part of the game when I played many moons ago, but Frendo is a master at it & as Ware FC are one of my local teams, I have seen him gain many unwarranted spot kicks playing for them in the past by employing the tactic. It seems to be an accepted part of the game these days but the incidents earlier in the season may have had an impact on Bailey's decision yesterday.

Completely agree on all those points. If Bailey had gone to ground (no need to even dive as he was being clattered) we would have had a penalty and Diarra would have been off (he was already on a yellow and could have possibly been given a straight red).

A foul is a foul. Had the ref seen the incident as described he would have to have booked or sent off Diarra regardless. Seems like the ref is unaware of the rules. We have had some shocking ref decisions the last two years, one at Hemel in a cup game when the ref, same one who sent Richard Graham off, refused to even book the Hemel keeper after awarding a penalty. In the above situation the advantage was in getting a shot at goal but a foul had still been committed as he acknowledged. Shocking decision. may have changed game but with our record of conceding late goals maybe not

Looking at the video the Bailey incident doesn't look as bad as I first thought (from behind the goal). Also it was not Diarra. Will have to await the Tudor TV version to hopefully get a better view. However the Lancaster goal gets better and better each time I view it - no fluke as suggested by Hemel fans!

If he'd gone down he'd probably have got the decision, but he didn't need to as he was through on goal. From a goalscoring and sporting perspective he made the right decision - a shame for you guys he didn't finish it, of course. Lancaster's goal was superb, the pick of the afternoon. He should have been marked better though
