The Save Our Saints campaign is now being re-named to Stand By Your Saints - at the suggestion of many of the supporters who have been involved so far in taking the campaign forward. The Save Our Saints campaign did well to grab the attention of the people of St Albans and our local politicians but now it's time to move to a more positive position - and that's why we have come up with the title of Stand By Your Saints. We want to create unity amongst all supporters and the club - officials, managers and players - and start to work to help the club to build for a better future. We've already started to discuss a variety of ideas and now we want to start to work on making things happen. We know the financial limitations of the club as it is based at Clarence Park and so, over the next few months, we want to prepare for next season, see what's achievable and start raising funds to strengthen our club. More details are currently on the Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/SaveOurSaints/ but we will be also doing more to communicate the message on a website and also at matches as we run in to the end of this season.

Those of you who attended Saturday's match hopefully saw our flyers and/or posters that set out the core aims for the campaign. Key to the success of the campaign will be supporters volunteering to help with the campaign - if you are interested or able to help in any way, please email getinvolved@StandByYourSaints.com

Was I in the wrong spot? I've just looked at the website and am wondering how it can be that I was completely unaware of SBYS until I read this post. How on earth did I miss your initial post in this thread from Apr 5th? Can't have been paying attention.

This all sound very worthy, but how are the aims of this group different to those of "The Trust"? (I have not seen any flyers, so I apologise in advance if they explain all) Should not all the City supporter groups be working together?

The aims can be viewed at www.StandByYourSaints.com - but no can of worms relating to the campaign and the trust. The trust have been kept informed of the campaign and also Stand by your Saints is not a membership body and, yes, we are working together. The whole purpose is to build unity and a common goal to work towards with the campaign having some specific aims. Volunteers were handing out flyers at the turnstiles but I know some supporters slipped through the 'net' as sometimes the people giving out flyers were engaged in discussion - but, with posters also up outside the ground and in the bar, toilets etc, hopefully the majority now know about the campaign (and the programme also included an article describing the aims).

Seems to be quite a bit of overlap between the aims of the Trust and SBYS (see below). Still if you are all working together, I guess that's okay. I'll shut up now. 1.to strengthen the bonds between the Club and the community which it serves and to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club; 2.to benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting encouraging and furthering the game of football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement; 3.to further the development of the game of football nationally and internationally and the upholding of its rules; 4.to encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions; 5.to encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation on the board of any company owning or controlling the Club and ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic elections to the board; 6.to promote, develop and respect the rights of members of the community served by the Club and people dealing with the Society as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, having regard in particular to the need to provide information to members and conduct the affairs of the Society in accessible and appropriate ways; 7.to support the club and work towards its long term security and success; 8.to be a positive, open and broadly representative group, accessible and democratically run for all supporters of the club, regardless of their age, disability, gender orientation, race or religious beliefs Our aims include: •Promote the club in our local community and educate the people of St Albans about the active role the club already plays in the wider community We will promote the importance of a successful football club in the city and we will help communicate the future vision of the football club and its benefits. •Improve the fan experience! We will help upgrade the ground facilities with the aim to attract more families – our fans of the future. We want to upgrade the bar so that it can generate additional revenue. We will also redecorate the toilet blocks before the start of the 2015/2016 season. •Raise extra revenue for the club We will raise extra revenue, through fundraising initiatives, that will help the club to achieve its vision to become a sustainable and viable football club. We will generate additional income that can be utilised by the club to invest in the player budget. Success on the field will help the club to develop and improve educational and sports programmes.

We have now added Boost the Budget to our campaign website so that supporters can start contributing - this can be via a regular payment or a one off donation: standbyyoursaints.com/fundraisers/boost-the-budget/The site also has a Donations area so that general donations to the campaign can be made.

Can we see how much has been donated on the site?

It's being looked into - at the moment recurring payments take some time to show in the totals in the tool being used and so that's being investigated

hate to be negative but it seems a bit random to just say boost the playing budget, maybe if g+g said we are looking at a new striker, if we could raise 1000 pounds there would be an actual target and everyone could see how theyve contributed
just my opinion

This was discussed but decided against - as the general view was that the management team should be able to use the money to retain existing players and/or bring in new players but we want the managers to make the decisions. The target is to simply Boost the Budget.

thats what i said the managers say we want to bring in drew roberts but we need an extra 1000 for example then people would know where there money is going for boosting the budget to bring in drew roberts rather than paying in and not seeing where the money actually goes
we were able to bring in lee clarke and loick pires last season so hopefully we can aim higher this summer with help from the fans

We will be producing a regular newsletter and will publish details of the amounts raised in each issue - this will also go to every one who makes a donation. You can already sign up to receive the newsletter from the website. So far today has been a good success - good to see supporters already making both one-off donations and also setting up recurring payments (ie £x every month).

good to hear but you cant see where your money actually goes thats all, would be good to have a specific target or aim or goal, you wouldnt donate to comic relief if they didnt tell you 3 pounds buy a moskito net for example

This was debated in full last night by a group of 12 supporters who have been involved in getting Stand by your Saints up and running - but no-one wanted to display the balance on an ongoing basis or have a target (they want to aim to collect as much as possible). Some raised concerns as to how this could make contract negotiations difficult if the money coming in was displayed in this way. The consensus was to raise money for the squad not an individual (you hit problems if that individual you brought in get's injured, suspended etc). However, we will regularly publish details of money collected and we are looking to also get feedback reports from the management team on how they use the money.

This looks like an interesting site www.easyfundraising.org.uk/Make purchase of goods via the site and the club would get an amount of money donated for each transaction. Over 2700+ retailers involved including Argos, John Lewis, M&S, Amazon, Sainsburys etc

We are going to add that to our site - hopefully by the end of next week. The trust also use it.

Thank you to everyone who attended our launch event - we raised over £900 for our legacy fund! Also a big thank you for all those involved in the organisation of the event - especially those who were cooking burgers, serving drinks, putting up/taking down bouncy castle etc on the day! Remember you can make online donations at anytime to the Saints Legacy Fund as well as our Boost the Budget scheme standbyyoursaints.com/fundraising-schemes/
