Brilliant idea and a big thumbs up to all those involved!
I don't mean to add a sour note to this but it really is a shame the club couldn't get behind this idea fully and have a sensible ticket price for the game.

The club did attend a SBYS committee meeting last week to discuss concerns about ticket prices. The difficulty with reducing prices for this Saturday is that gate receipts are split three ways - and the other two parties are unlikely to agree a reduction at this stage of the competition. However the club did commit to discounting admission for some upcoming fixture or fixtures. I understand they will be statements made on this in the near future.

The difficulty with reducing prices for this Saturday is that gate receipts are split three ways - and the other two parties are unlikely to agree a reduction at this stage of the competition. With the greatest respect, Mike, that's not actually true. The club are being disingenuous if they are trying to sell that story as being fact. The cost of admission is based on an agreed reduction by two of the concerned parties. While the FA do get 5% of the gate receipts and are therefore the third party taking a share, the ruling states: Immediately after the draw is known, the two Clubs concerned must mutually agree the prices of admission subject to the following conditions.
Except where mutually agreed otherwise the minimum admission (except to children and senior citizens) to matches shall be:
In the Extra-Preliminary, Preliminary and First Round Qualifying: £3.00 In the Second and Third Rounds Qualifying: £5.00 In the Fourth Round Qualifying: £6.00
A higher admission charge may be mutually agreed between the Clubs concerned. The away Club’s spectators can only be charged more than the home Club’s spectators if agreed by both Clubs. So actually it only takes the agreement of Weston super Mare to a lower ticket price, say £12, for the club to make that reduction. WsM (who incidentally have the same website design as Saints) charge £10 entry to their Vanarama South games so I would be surprised if they baulked at the suggestion of a £12 entry fee, or even £10. The telling part of the regulation is that such discussions should be made immediately after the draw so it is true to state that it is too late now, but it is also crystal clear that Saints officials did not go into initial discussions with a lower-than-£15 price in mind. If anyone can confirm that WsM said "£15 and not a penny less" then I'll happily withdraw that accusation.

This isn't the thread to be discussing match day pricing in, thanks!

This isn't the thread to be discussing match day pricing in, thanks! Why not? I thought this message board was in place for supporters to air both positives and negatives?
