Need to get a volunteer to sort out the website, and maybe one to do twitter updates from games, start with the simple stuff first and myclubbetting etc can follow after

Personally, I don't see too much wrong with the website. It is updated on a regular basis , is informative and does a more than adequate job. From my conversations with other supporters, most seem to have a similar view.

Why bother replying to this post if you've got nothing positive to say? The club secretary is also the club's commercial manager so I think he has enough on his plate already.

Plus the website and twitter are both updated by volunteers already but those individuals can't do everything. If you think you could do a better job of maintaining the website and twitter I'm sure they would accept your help and expertise.

If they wanted help with the website, they would have made a public appeal before going gungho and building a new site. They've made their bed, so they can lay in it.

People just need to be grateful that there individuals amongst that are willing to give up their time to keep all of you lot informed about what's going on at the club.

Wow - I mean Wow!! I’ve been lurking here a while and can’t honestly believe that a new season is upon us and we are going over the same old ground.. there’s a new website which may or may not be better than the old one.. man up - get over it.. it’s only a website.. if you want a different one.. make one - go to the powers that be - convince them that it’s better - then volunteer your time to maintain it - put up with the crap of everyone who thought the old one was better and put your soul on the line to be open to abuse week in week out … honestly no one will actually give a whoopsie! There are folk on here who still seem to think everything is some kind of personal vendetta or ego trip - when in reality the intention is only to further the club"s interests…. why put yourself through months of abuse for no financial gain for any other reason…
honestly man up - get a grip There are hills to climb - but at the end of the day we are all only human beings…

I think the website is quite good.
One question on volunteering. Some of tasks seem, quite frankly, to be unpleasent - cleaning the toilets. It a bit of a ask to expect someone to do this for free. I understand this may be a issue with police/council regulations but could we replace some hired security with volunteers (provide training if neccessary) for low risk games. We seem to have had serveral hired security for friendly games with low crowds and no inter-supporter tension. I see why they may be neccessary for games like Hemel but surely we can use them more selectively The security just seemed stand around doing very little. Surely it would be a easier sell to get someone to volunteer for this and pay someone to pick litter etc

We're all entitled to exercise free speech and grumble about whatever we like, but it's sad to see the same few individuals being critical of volunteers that give up their time free of charge.
I don't volunteer myself. Partly because I live in London and partly for selfish reasons. The club wouldn't function without the work of volunteers, so I'm very grateful for those that do.

Whe n I was on the Supporters club committee 40 years ago, me and my friend Chris used to do all sorts of jobs including picking litter going through bins, etc. the only payment we got was free admission.- and in the mid 1970s that wasn't fantastic- but we did have some fun and developed a cammaradarie- knowing we were helping the club we loved. Players were paid - even though some of them were crap but it didn't make any difference to us.

As I said at the beginning of this, Let the volunteer know he/she will gain free entry to all matches, maybe if room free travel to away games on the coach or at least cheaper seats, discount in the club shop/bar, To be honest not sure what the volunteers get when working down the park and maybe this happens already but could the club/trust not pay for hot food at dinner time to be brought in. End of year free seats to the sports evening /dinner. Whatever people who help down the park need to feel that they are not just used but part of the club. Guessing the real problem is in society in general and the way most now lead life which free time can be hard to find.

A lot of that is done fatboy and quite rightly. What's on offer will no doubt be dependent on amount of work done which probably makes it a bit more difficult to communicate clearly. But in practice I think the Club does always try to offer something back (as it should)
