Nothing I can say can explain how bad that performance was. What is it about us playing at Bath!?

Very disappointing performance. Too much hoofing the ball in the air in the first half, together with naive defending. I could have scoredfrom from my wheelchair when Bath scored their 3rd. I felt a bit sorry for Russell who made so good saves. I don't remember us threatening. I enjoyed a pint of Thatchers Gold on draft. I would like to thank their kind supporter who wheeled me back to the car after the game.

Well that certainly was a reality check, but I guess when you play Russian Roulette type football you are pretty much certain to shoot yourself in the end. Ironically we changed the formation today to 4-3-3 possibly to give us a little more stability but it failed miserably. Bath played a standard 4-4-2 with two lumps up front, they are nothing special but worked hard and seemed well organised and disciplined. It appears to this observer that Allinson's preferred style is to get the ball forward as quickly as possible to pacy forwards that can get in behind opposing defences, all well and good if you can hit very accurate passes - today we couldn't, and in truth the three midfielders we fielded today are not creative enough, nor did they get upfield quickly enough to support the strikers. I felt sorry for Morias and Theophanous who were living off scraps for the whole of the game,Louie in particular kept going right to the end and was unfortunate when he hit the post in the dying minutes. Two goals conceded from set pieces, seemed like poor marking at a corner for the first, and poor decision making from Russell who should have dealt with an inswinging free kick for the second. I felt Russell could have made a better effort for both of Wealdstone's goals on Monday and is not convincing me as much as he does the manager. Herd took two yellow cards, the first I didn't think was a foul, the second was rank bad defending. I thought he would be our best signing of the summer but he is struggling at the moment. This was the third season in a row we have played badly here, the previous two seasons were probably worse than today, we did hit the woodwork twice whereas before we never even had a sniff of a goal. I think if we persevere with this style of football we will have some exciting victories but also more beatings similar to today's.

I'd be interested to know what people think of Lee Chappell's contribution to the team? It seems to me that he definitely doesn't lack effort but has no quality on the ball.
I wouldn't be surprised to see changes for Tuesday especially to the back four.

That's the last time I am going to Bath. I've spent enough over the years to watch us there, somewhere in the region of well over 1K if I add everything up and we are not getting anything back from the team. Don't know why we can't get a result down there. Bath had obviously done their homework and exploited the right side of our defence to the max. Can we have Harry Anderson back!!

That was a very soft red and why didn't we have a man on both posts for the corner/1st goal

A good first 15 minutes but I'm afraid the remaining 75 were abysmal, even worse than last season's 1-0 defeat, if anyone thought that could be possible. Half the side looked as if they had been up all night watching the Olympics and one, who shall remain nameless, put in such an inept shift and appeared to look totally disinterested. The midfield, with the exception of Scott Thomas, struggled throughout as did the back line, with the exception of Ryan Johnson. It doesn't leave a lot, does It? Ben Herd's 2nd yellow was inexcusable and, basically, cost us the game. At 1-0 down, regardless of how you are playing, you are still in the game. As stated before, Thomas and Johnson did ok for me and so did Theo and James Russell. The one big plus was Junior Morias, who played with a heart the size of 10 men and never once stopped trying all game, despite the fact that he and Theo were indeed feeding on scraps pretty much all afternoon. I could probably accept some of this if Bath City were a decent side but the fact is they weren't. They were something between poor and average. I am still searching for a word to describe our performance.
A 250 mile round round trip and all very depressing. Let's hope it is a lesson learned and there is an improvement against Chelmsford on Tuesday evening. There needs to be.

First yellow could've been a red as it was close to being a penalty from my view of highlights. Hope we are not paying the price for the major upheaval and change in players during summer. Settled squad and great finish to season. Continuity and consistency and we were playing great stuff. Ah well. Hopefully big step up in performance on Tuesday but based on comments and highlights re bath cant see where it will come from . And if any players have been staying up to watch Olympics it doesn't seem to have inspired them!! Mini Olympic Golf Challenge tomorrow morning. Scotsman Norwegian South African Englishman. COYS

I was not present at the Bath game so I cannot comment on Lee's performance but, having seen him quite a few times now in midfield, I don't believe that he is a natural midfielder and if it were not for his long throw I am not sure whether he would be worth his place in the team playing in that position. His best position by far IMHO is fullback. He played very well there when we got promoted, particularly when he attacked down the wing, but, for reasons I don't understand, when he has played in that position more recently he was either reluctant, or, as is probably more likely, not encouraged by the management to continue in this attacking role.

Funny how people see things differently! I personally thought Chappell was always an accident waiting to happen at fullback. I lost count of the times we lost goals because he was too far up field with no obvious cover.
