A date for your diaries and an absolute must for all football supporters on Friday 7th October when St Albans City Football Club in conjunction with Stand By Your Saints are hosting ‘An evening with Ian Allinson.’
The former Arsenal, Luton Town and Colchester United midfielder will recount stories from his playing days before turning to events at Clarence Park and the future of the playing squad.
The evening will be hosted in the newly refurbished Saints clubhouse and tickets are £10 (available online and from the club shop) with all proceeds going to the ‘Boost the Budget’ initiative. The scheme was one of the first fundraising initiatives developed and launched by our supporters’ club, Stand by your Saints. It importantly delivers funds that are ring fenced with the sole purpose of giving the manager, Ian Allinson, additional funds to maximise the potential of his playing staff.
Last season, Boost the Budget raised more than £6,000. This money helped the club to bring in players such as Louie Theophanous, Scott Thomas as well as paying towards loan signings and retaining important team players, such as Tom Bender, all of whom contributed significantly to the Saints ultimately winning their fight against relegation.
Already this season the fund has also helped provide the financial support needed to bring striker Junior Morias to the club.
Ian Allinson says:
"The money raised by the scheme helped to ultimately enable me to come in towards the end of the campaign and use the strength within the existing squad to improve results and ensure that the club remained in the National League South."
This season, Stand by your Saints want to contribute the additional funds that will help Ian Allinson to put together a squad that can complete in a very strong league.
It is sure to be a great event and we look forward to seeing as many supporters there as possible.
