Sun is shining hopefully we can get a result today and change things round, few changes to the squad can hopefully bring a change of results! I've been to 20+ games this season and I cannot work out how Merson has only 10 league starts this season. Deserved a lot more chances than he got this year, I'm just hoping he hangs around to be part of the rebuild next year. The kid has a lot of potential, I'm guessing IA just doesn't see it

Currently goalless, that's a surprise considering our recent form. Could be 3 down thoyfhas they've had the best chances.

1-0! Walker with a bicycle kick after good build up down the left between Monty and Banton. Monty's cross bounced up in the box and Walker overhead kicked back across the keeper into the far corner. Fantastic finish.

Now that was a relief. Just got back from the game. A lot more positivity, composure and intelligence out there on the pitch from the boys today. Well done to the team, the management and the fans (great turnout today - 753) The new lads look to have settled in really quickly, but the star today was James Russell between the sticks. First clean sheet since December 10th. Now that we are safe from any relegation worries, I'm looking forward to seeing how the team use this as a launchpad for the remaining games. I've finally walked back from CP with a smile on my face for the first time in months. A good day.

Great result today. Well done to all. How good to see the defence and goalkeeper sticking to their task for 90 minutes. Bringing a new keeper to the club seems to have worked wonders for Russell's judgement and concentrating. If Solomon Sambou can keep up that level of skill and energy he could be a valuable addition. Thought the other two new boys looked promising too. And a goal at last!! Dartford looked as though they thought we would be easy pickings. It was very satisfying to see them reap the result of that. Come on now Saints. Let's see the season out in style.

Like a different team. They all played well. Not going behind to a silly goal early on was a novelty. Always liked Chappell but Sambou a huge improvement. Busy like Kante. Banton looked good too.... Dartford backed off when he had the ball, and hopefully he (and Monty?) can bring more out of Walker.

So one win( 2 in 18 ) and IA has sorted it out? HAHA! Yes Boomer, Still IA out! Once we've gone only 2 losses in 18 I may well eat my words and would be happy to change my mind on that but this is still a shocking run And as Ive said if we do go on a run and win all our remaining games, just as we've some 'luxury' players, we'd have a luxury manager. Cant afford this run of form if we have any aspirations to get out of this league. And we've missed a great opportunity to get out of it cos it is a truly poor league. Our only other league win this year was against a team in a good run of form. Apparently. Gosport brought back to reality yesterday putting our defeat into true perspective. And although not at game(hence no comments on performance) I am very happy to see that we won when apparently we could've been 3 down/ Just a bit like our run that took us up to 2nd . First double of season in our favour? One swallow and all that. BTW I predicted a win. Im a born optimist. And just when bookies priced game up correctly on known evidence we turn it over!! what a league. True pants

A good result, but from the highlights we were lucky not be 2-3 goals down at HT. Anyway, onwards and upwards etc. I think if we get say 9-10 points from the last 6 games it might possibly restore my faith after the lamentable last 3 months. Action should have been taken sooner, why wasn't it ? And I still don't understand releasing Hill and also Theo, was he under contract ?

However. Well done to our defence ( goalkeeper) . First clean sheet since Dec 10. 2016. Last year...... FFS. Did someone really congratulate him? Tongue in cheek surely. Sorry I cant comment on the performance( wasn't there).

Good to win. However a more clinical Dartford should have put the game to bed after 30 minutes.
Hopefully the win will boost the confidence within the squad.
We need to stick with IA.
This time last year we looked doomed for days out to Dunstable and other glorified pub teams.
IA saved us and deserves another full season in charge. Chopping and changing managers isn't good for the club.
The way he has developed Junior should attract other aspirational young players.

One win doesn't make Allinson a great manager again, so we'll have to wait and see if this is the start of a change in form or an aberration. It's not a coincidence that our better performances in recent times have been against the bigger teams. Confidence is low and the players have performed better when the pressure is off. The real test will be against Margate in a couple of weeks time, where we'll have to take the initiative and try and break them down. In the league, we haven't won any games when we've conceded first and conversely we've not lost when we've scored first and have won every time since Hemel in September. This all points to us being a confidence team and my biggest criticism of Allinson is his inability to get the team scrapping for points when confidence/performances have been low.
As for the game we rode our luck a bit first half and it would have been a very different game if they'd put away one of their chances. But there were a lot of positives and we were the better team second half. The two new guys injected some life in to things, which is exactly what the squad needed. We've got some good players, but they've looked completely battered by this recent run of form.
Allinson took on messiah-like qualities in our eyes in his first 10 months at the club. The last few months have shown that he's not the messiah, but he's most likely still a decent manager at this level. The next 6 games are crucial. If we can win a few, then we can surely approach next season with some positivity under IA. If we don't win any then it's probably time for a change.

IA is a good manager - based on last year's turnaround and the first half of this season. He is also a good manager based on the rubbish we have seen in the last couple of months - in that he recognises a problem and is doing all he can to solve it.
Over the years, I have seen many managers come and go. They usually go (or are pushed) when they give up the fight. I cant see that from IA.
When he stops fighting - then's the time to look around.

Full time 1-0! Allison out anyone? Cocky after the event even though I see you predicted a loss. Could of been 3 down and keeper man of the match it'll take a few more results before I am confident of us being a contender in this league again. Changes should of been better when we knew Junior was leaving and letting Hill go over Martin was a poor decision and I hope we got something for Theo as he was on contract.

Hatboy, I wasn't being cocky, more mischievous! Lots of comments post the Gosport shambles about Allinson should go. Don't think anyone made a suggestion as to whom they'd replace him with? Though I maybe wrong. I spent some of the train journey back afterwards texting my mate, who's a lifelong Saint, about it being worse than the Truro game we'd been to. His comment was Allinson should go, but when I said who'd replace him, the only name he could come up with, was Devonshire at Maidenhead. I did point out he's hardly likely to leave them when they've got every chance of automatic promotion and with a club he's got an affinity to, rather than one he doesn't. I put us to lose because I'd seen how poorly we had defended at Gosport and Dartford are a decent workmanlike side in this league who grind out results. Agree that letting Hill go was a mistake and with Theo out of contract at the end of the season, maybe getting money for him now was a better option.
