A deserved win, in a bit of a strange game. We dominated the opening period but Chelmsford hit us on the counter attack and went ahead. It was easy to see why they have the best away record as they sat in & looked dangerous on the break.
The game changed with the penalty & red card, which I thought was correctly awarded. Shaun stuck it away & Chelmsford then completely retreated and made absolutely no attempt to attack until Blackmans wonder strike. It seemed an odd tactic given our poor defence why they didn’t make any earlier effort to get forward.
At times we moved the ball too slowly, especially in the second half but it can be difficult when a team plays so deep to get through. Whilst I don’t wish to get on a players back after a win Akanbi’s miss in the second half was ridiculous & I’m still really struggling to see what he offers. When even the oppositions twitter commentary is mocking him it’s not a good sign!
Hopefully we can get a bit of a run going & get some confidence back. A good festive period along with getting the likes of Zane & Clark amongst others back fit could lead to a better second half of the season.

Akanbi would struggle to score in a bordello, like to see him shipped out in January.
Great to pick up 3 points and start Jeffers.
Need to build the team around Jeffers going forward, and cut out the tippy tappy football.

We played quite well for most of it but seemed to be fading away as the second half progressed. However, Blackman’s well struck shot gave us a deserved win in the end.

Quite interesting to look at the chelmsford forum, they must wear rose tinted glasses. Worst st albans side they have seen, and they were all over us till the sending off, really what about their goalkeeper catching the ball halfway into the net before they scored!

Yeah, a great win and a decent performance overall. I don't think Chelmsford hurt us too much apart from the goal, but again, the same as after the win over Maidstone, its all about getting some consistency going. If we lose one or two straight after this, the relegation places, or at least 2 of them cos Havant and Dover look doomed, will still be not that far below us.

A lot of the Chelmsford have fans spent too long on the sunbeds, must have impacted their eyesight.
We dominated throughout.

I’m not sure Havant are doomed yet? A very strong squad who’ve now won 3 in a row since getting rid of Steve King. They’ve certainly got enough to pull themselves back into contention, albeit a big ask.
It’s a very open league, with very little between any of the teams. Anyone is capable of beating anyone from what I’ve seen. I’m not convinced that’s because it’s a strong division as Noble suggests in his interview, but it’s certainly competitive.
Interesting to read & hear the views of the Chelmsford fans & manager. It’s always funny how people watching the same 90 minutes of football can see such a different game. There’s some positive comments regarding the attendance & our ability to get numbers through the gate. Although the attendance was down quite a bit from previous weeks, I imagine being so close to Xmas is a factor. Hopefully a bumper crowd for the Hemel game on Boxing Day.
