I thought by the law of averages one of those balls would have gone into the net!
The only thing worse than the football was the moronic drumming from a brain dead Braintree fan.

Today proved we aren't good enough for the play offs, we gifted them the goal, then spent the rest of the game tamely trying to equalise. Braintree were quite cynical and niggarly, and feigning injury to break up the game. They weren't that good overall.

Well, whilst I'm sure there are more twists and turns left of what's still remaining of this season, l think it's just the last play off spot that's up for grabs as far as we are concerned. There are enough points on the table to be earned. But, we've got to be better, to grab that spot. The officials decision making, particularly in the 2nd half, was a bit dubious, Braintree's players, again mostly in the 2nd half, particularly the keeper, were a bit time wasty and cynical, but at the end of the day we've got to rise above all that and grind out a result, and we were just not good enough, the officials and Braintree's antics weren't the reasons we lost the game today

Very frustrating. On the balance of play we didn’t deserve to lose, but if you don’t create many chances, don’t take the few you get and then gift a competent if niggly side a goal then I guess you get what you deserve.
In truth we haven’t looked like a promotion side all season (apart from New Year to early March when we lost one in twelve) so perhaps we shouldn’t be too disappointed.

Well said, saint68.
I know it's plainly obvious but 9 home league defeats from 20 games is nowhere near promotion form.

On tha balance of play I think we probably merited a point but my main take away from today was that both ourselves and Braintree are in the right league. Maybe we make the playoff, maybe not. Braintree will but if either of teams get promoted it just going to be depressing experience for everyone involved unless they get a entirely new squad. It's not just that they would get relegated but they will not even compete. Oxford are already mathematically relegated. Not much piint getting in playoffs etc unless you have a plan to manage the step up.

The same could be said of chelmsford, aveley or Worthing, going up in the play offs they would get beaten most games,a depressing thought. Only yeovil could survive at that level.

All fair points. When we came back down to the South Division in 2007 our Manager and most of the team left. We never really recovered and four years later were relegated again. I'd rather not go up at all if I thought that would happen again.
However, football is more about emotion than logic so I still want to see us promoted, or at least get into the play-offs!

Braintree have only lost one since start of Jan (v Yeovil) they were a typical big thuggy Essex side, so I tip them for promotion

braintree may get promoted but for one season only, nowhere near good enough for the national league.
