Interesting comments from Steve Castle in the post-match interview on the official site.
Castle basically says that Gary would have been an automatic choice to go straight back into the starting eleven against Dover if he was scoring more goals.
Personally, I'm a big fan of Gary. I think he is a terrific player. In a way, he reminds me a little bit of Emile Heskey, not in his style of play or anything like that, but because of how much he brings to the team without scoring many goals himself.
Gary Cohen has contributed the most assists in the team this season and as Castle says his athleticism and all round effort and general play is fantastic. There is no doubt he is a great player at this level and also one of our key players.
Considering what Castle has said though, what do we think Gary's best position is?
He clearly does a good job up front apart from the goals and gives any defender a tough afternoon, but in my opinion he has been much more effective when deployed out on the wings.
When he has played wide left this season, he has looked pretty dangerous cutting inside and moving into the centre. I use the example of the Bromley game, from which Saint recently posted up a goal of the season contender which Cohen scored coming in from the left side. Personally, I think all that pace and strength might be best utilised in the wide positions, where Gary can run at his fullback and give them a torrid afternoon.
What do you guys think Gary's best position is? I'm interested to hear your opinions.
