Very, very disappointing game against a very average side, who were so depleted with injuries and suspensions, they could only muster three on their bench. It is just not good enough. The spine of the side is weak structurally and physically. The central defence continues to struggle and as ever, continues to pump aimless balls upfield. A fine advert for football, that is. The central midfield is non-existent and last night it seemed that the two centre mids had never set eyes on each other before. There were eleven players out there but they didn't seem to have any remote idea of how to play as a team. Passes went astray continually and our ball control, especially in the middle of the field, was woeful. It says something when our best player on the night, Walker, did more in the 45 minutes he was on the field, than the rest of the team did all game.
A 'born again' team? Not on last night's showing, it wasn't. Our performance was an embarrassment. I always thought that watching football was supposed to be a pleasurable experience. I don't think any Saints supporter who took both the time and effort to get to Chippenham for last night's game would concur that it was pleasurable, in any shape or form.

When is Howell going to drop Ijaha?? He is consistently one of the worst performers on the field - terrible with the ball at his feet and, in my opinion, is not doing his job for the team. Surely he's more suited to being a holding midfielder, and yet he marauds upfield like Zinedine Zidane, where her offers very little!

Bit of an odd situation with O'Leary? He sounded like he was the sort of player we needed in midfield. I feel for all you guys who go home and away every week, you're not getting much back for your efforts.

I was so hopeful that we had turned a corner after the last two home matches. Were we missing O'Leary in midfield adding that bit of tenacity and strength last night? Or is it more the case that the recent good performances were covering up the cracks and were just another false dawn? It does seem to me that the main weakness of this team has always been in the centre-midfield partnership and at the back.

Rejoicing about the still inadequate fee we received for Inih Effiong is of no use to us at all at this time, where are the urgent discussions and announcements about improving this wretched squad !
Do you want to be playing Levertstock Green next season ?

It must be said we have now played 18 league games and a few cup games and the squad is pretty much the same as it was at the start of the season bar a splattering of loan signings, my fear is, bar the 2 game O'Leary, the manager doesn't seem to be attracting anyone else to play in the positions needed

Ian Ridley knows exactly what he is doing im sure he is telling the manager he must sign players however the only thing you would say is does David Howell have the contacts?

Mid table finish, establish a core group of players and start to build a decent style of playing.

Top half maybe pushing for a play off place if lucky, certainly a + goal difference though !
