Not sure if the manager has noticed but we have conceded 45 goals? does this not show decent defenders are needed? also i agree its out of order to be speaking about drew roberts when we havent signed him?

I find these new signings and the pursuit of Roberts even more depressing than what has gone on before. How are we building for the future with all these has-beens and never were players ! We need a tough, mobile and relatively experieced centre-half, who is not on the way out, who can marshal the defence, two new long-term full backs who have been playing regularly, and a midfield ball winner and organiser. We had a perfectly good young-ish striker in Walker who has joined another club. Nonsense. Takeley are on a good run by the way.

I agree it's pretty un professional of David Howell to mention the player if we have not signed him, even if he isn't on a contract. Can't believe we have let Jerome go very talented/ raw player, with alot of potential. If we don't put players on contracts then what can you do.
Not sure about the new signing Hyde but I wont judge him till we play. He sounds good when described by David Howell as a player with very good passing capabilties, whose not afraid to keep the ball. Although that is what we need, we all know anyone can sound good on paper! Plus can he still play at that level? He's 37, maybe he was a decent player when he was younger playing for Peterborough, but Aveleys position in the Isthiam league makes me think otherwise. Obviously a team consists of 11 players but it's still a cause for concern. Hopefully when Howell talks about more players signing by the end of the week he's refering to two centre backs and another centre mid!!

Drew Roberts is on good form but why would he choose us over Bedford. Drew follows the ££££££££ by all accounts

And it should also be noted that, despite our lowly position, we're still a bigger club than Bedford

what the hell is the point of signing another old player? also simon martin how many more pointless signings,at least if drew roberts signs he has scored a lot of goals for bedford it seems dave howell doesn't know what he is doing!

You would like to believe that we are a'bigger' team than Bedford but that may be open to debate way things are.So Jerome has gone and aint coming back. Howell et al are still at The Park and we the supporters are mushrooms. The Review report/interview with Mr Howell is pure comedy gold. Just a pity he is at our club. No matter. Dont Panic. Keep Calm. Carry On

Micah Hyde has officially signed. Regarding Jerome Walker, the manager wanted to keep him but Jerome got a financially better offer when they came in with a 7 day approach. And the fact that he lives in South London, not a hard choice really for him personally

Bring back Lee Clarke I say, along with a few others from that time in Conf. However tevez 32,s spot on post raises a few questions the main one for me being that if as we are led to believe, our budget compares favourably with others in our div how do Met Polis come upwith a better financial package? If manager wanted him to stay and you know that someone has come in for him and he is one of our few decent players and travel has never been an issue before either here or at Harrow why didnt we manage to keep him? Not wanted? Interesting that there is talk of Drew Roberts returning and another post suggests that he follows the money one would assume that we are offering more than Avesly(?) So are we likely to be 'outbid' by lower div clubs? Or do the 90 fans who attend Met Polis games generate more income than our 300? Lots of questions. Like I said earlier , I hoped that my usually reliable source was wrong but we may never know. A good player has gone and we are not bringing in any better class players IMO.

We may not be blessed with many players at the moment, who are good enough to play at this level, maybe 5 or 6 but of that number, you have to include Jerome Walker, who was the one player who has the potential to do really well. It seems to me that so many managers are incapable of seeing it, when it is right there in front of them. This is 2003 revisited, when we did virtually exactly the same with Mackail-Smith; the management at the time couldn't see what was staring them in the face and he joined Arlesey when he wasn't wanted at St. Albans. As we all know, he is now plying his trade in the upper echelons of the Championship and we didn't receive one single penny for him. The Walker situation is not a million miles different. He has the capability to play at least to Div 2 standard, maybe higher, if coached properly. So it seems we have learned precisely nothing in the intervening years. I do know one thing: if Colin Lippiatt had been in charge at this club right now, Jerome Walker would still be here. Colin recognized talent when he saw it. This will come back and bite us. .................. not a hard choice really for him personally Cheers as well for your spot on post tevez32 but that doesn't seem to be what Jerome is saying. If David Howell had wanted to keep him, he would have done so. Clearly he didn't.

So sadly it looks like the source had it correct. The attempted spin by the club or whoever was wrong and Jerome says there was no effort made to keep him. Does thet claear things up or muddy the water more? I dont know. But Mr Howell appears to be without a clue in reality and the Jerome Walker saga highlights this. Clueless and its everyone elses fault but not his. Well for your info using a zillion players and blaming team spirit doesnt marry up. If you were using a regular team from a given squad and things began to pear shaped you could maybe look at the players and their spirit. and Im not saying that Mr Howell isnt a good manager either! Just aint good enuff for the job here and in this poor division. No doubt Mr Howell will be in charge at Hitchin and i do hope we thump them. wont make mr Howell any better a manager though. That will take a miracle of biblical proportions

Thanks for posting that, Norman7Saints. I think all fans appreciate that; it's refreshing to have some honesty around the place and, considering the circumstances, none of us could possibly blame Jerome for wanting to leave. When a player as good as he is doesn't feel wanted by a club, it is natural for him to want to play his football elsewhere if given the right opportunity. I'd like to thank Jerome for his undoubted effort and obvious quality he showed during his time playing with the Saints (that cross on the opening day against Cirencester was absolute class), and wish him luck for the future. Hopefully we'll see him back at The Park one day.

We (the fans) always seem to be appreciated by players that play for the club and it is always nice to have comments posted by players or friends of them, as i said before all the Best Jerome.
It does also seem to be a regular thing the fans spotting good players but the club not doing enought to keep them !

I must have been watching a different player to the one Mr Howell is talking about in the Review interview. makes it clear he wanted him out and so backs up what many believed. Is he serious though? Jerome a disappontment? Cant say any more as I am stunned by his comments. Is it me?

It did seem a surprising comment to me too. I was surprised to hear Owsy say this in the interview on the site. I thought Jerome was one of the more consistent players this season actually but what do I know!
Then again, towards the end he wasn't getting enough minutes on the pitch anyway.
