looking forward to the visit of your Saints to Vauxhall Road on Monday for the first "proper" game between us at our place since 1983/84, I'm hoping plenty of you will make the short trip and beat the away following Chesham and Hitchin have brought to our place already this season. Don't leave it too late to arrive... there's usually only one turnstile open and there's quite a queue just before kick off, plus if it's your first visit to VR for a while please bear in mind we've built AstroTurf pitches on our car park and the road outside is usually full long before kick off.

Hi marc, Many thanks for info. I hope to be there - is there plenty of on-street parking or is it all residents parking zone? Thanks

there's no parking restrictions at all, but Vauxhall Road is busy with residents parking and can be a squeeze. turn in to Ranelagh Road or Farloand Road and you'll squeeze in somewhere.... just dont block a driveway!
if you're there early enough for a pint in our clubhouse you'll find a space on Vauxhall Road, likewise if you have a pint around the corner at the Crabtree you could probably get away with leaving your car there as it's a decent enough pub. there is still limited parking in the football club car park but if you're lucky enough to get a space you may be charged £1 (refunded if you buy a drink in the clubhouse) and you wont get out after the game in a rush.

I'm afraid this preview is a bit truncated as I've not been too well. I've been seeing in the New Year with a miserable cold, I'm afraid!
No 'Final Word' for this match either. We'll get things back to normal for the next match.
But we do have a City Archives section from Brummie coming up next.

The City Archives - Hemel Hempstead, 1951[/u]
We have a new feature to place alongside our previews this season, as one of Saints Chat's regular posters, Brummie, delves into the history books to provide us with match reports from the past. This gives a chance to walk down memory lane, or learn a little about City's past, before the next match in the present!
This time, Brummie has given us a typed report of a match that took place in 1951 in a Herts Senior Cup tie against the Tudors. Over to Brummie for the details!
Thanks, as always, go to Brummie for delving into the City Archives to provide us with an interesting read alongside our usual match previews!

Ryan Moran is now available after his suspension and Rob Haworth should also be in contention.

I reckon the attendance was about 400+ it was a good turn out from the mighty saints fans, who got behind the team and made themselves heard especially in the second half...COYS

well done on the result and thanks for so many of you making the trip to Vauxhall Road.
Although Hemel's performance (if you could call that) was unrecognizable compared to Saturday when we nearly beat Brackley, it'd have taken our best performance in a long, long time to get anything out of todays game, best performance I've seen from an away team at our place this season.

Unfortunately, my cold kept me away from the Hemel match.
Question to those who were there: who was your man of the match?

I'll go along with Bakare, excellent finish for his goal, and a constant threat. Dewayne Clarke looked a useful addition to the squad.

Good result and we were deserved winners. A very good Xmas period overall. Now lets see some stabilisation in the team- not too many changes please. Interesting tho that players who were, apparently, clueless against Weymouth came good against the Tudors! What a league. Great support from us as well. Hope you all can make it to The Park on Saturday. As for Bakare tho, had a great game many of us feel so will probably make the bench on Saturday
